destertplat is a modified single player map Pepzee.biohalo was the first custom single player map to be released. though I guess you are somewhat right with the description. change it to the first ever custom single player map.

I don't see how Open Sauce will magically get people to collaborate and plan stuff out decently.

Agreed, the average SP levels are of rather mediocre quality unfortunately. If more people worked together and planned things out, things might be different. It's really not super duper hard to do. It just takes dedication and a right combination of people and planning. Then again, I suppose those are the hard parts...

^ OS could encourage greater cooperative effort by showing what can be achieved if they try hard enough. To do this they would be more pressed to team up and plan.

I agree with Lodex. OS isn't just gonna magically increase people's map making skills.

You give a few bakers the simple things they need to bake a cake, some will bake a good cake, some not so much.

Now you give those bakers the simple things they need and some additional bonus things. Those who didn't make a good cake to begin with aren't gonna suddenly bake a good one because they got more stuff to mess around with.

While OS can do a great number things, a poorly designed SP map will still be a poorly designed SP map. I do think we'll see more innovative features and tags in them, which will make them far more interesting.

Edit: I think takeback needs to be taken off the list, if you start it on heroic it's completely unplayable.

I'll have to agree with Takeback, though I love the concept, and the ending cutscene is cool. I had to be on deathless and infinite ammo to even finish the level on normal.

Yeah I saw StormAndBlackbird play that map, and wow, that was just ridiculous :-)
I think the covenant killed you in one shot, and then you had to defend the chief too...

Shouldn't the Chief be invincible or something?
It's too much of a hassle to guard NPC's.

Lodex, there are no spots on Descent that the AI can't reach. There are some spots that they don't go to for a while. But as far as I could see, there are no spots at all that they can't reach. I looked for quite a while. (I was being chased down by hunters and I had almost no ammo. I think my search was pretty thorough :P)

And Moose can decide whatever he wants about the quality of the maps. It's his UI. You wouldn't want anybody challenging some of your horrible design decisions in Lumoria, would you? (And yes, there were some. Xfire me if you want the gruesome detail) Well, don't challenge Moose's design decisions as trollishly.

I agree with the idea that any maps with poor or no cinematics should be out. Yes, some other maps can be considered poor. But they're still quite playable.
Plus you may have noticed that the maps being challenged have also been challenged by their creator(Lestat).

It will be released sometime this year, whenever is deemed appropriate. You'll know when that time comes. UI map files can go up to 35MB, so it'll be under that amount. Right now it sits at about 27MB.

Well last I talked to moose man (who needs to get on xfire!) it's pretty much all visual stuff and bug fixing. The entire thing is fully functional ATM.

It probably will be forced onto this UI in some form, just cuz. Think I read something retarted about them adding in "achievements" somewhere in the UI. Although I can't imagine MoooseGuy truely liking the idea.

This UI will be designed not to need, or use, OS. It will feature OS maps, but nothing more than that.

Because of the way Halo is coded, no. Unless the creators of OS were able to help me out on this, and remove the maps from the MP listing in an OS-applied Halo.

There are parts of the UI I have not yet shown to the community. The Custom SP list is actually a subsection of another section. In that section, you will see the Default, SPv3, H2SP, and Lumoria campaigns.

No worries. The Achievements are going to be in the maps themselves, not the UI. Since the UI is not OS itself, any OS features it would have would be incorporated by the creators of OS.

A request: Can you make a startup script to enable player_magnetism by default?
For those who doesnt know yet, player_magnetism its the aim assist on halo pc/custom edition, it only works with a gamepad.

I don't know if UI mapfiles are different pertaining to this command, but I had included the player_magnetism command in Lumoria's mapfiles at one point for ease of use...and they did NOT actually work. Typing it in manually in console did work, but not having it as part of the script.

So might want to test if it's actually possible in UI map files.

Well, i built the stock tutorial.map with this script and it worked:

After loading tutorial.map (on multiplayer or using map_name), the player_magnetism its still enabled after i exit the map and load the ui or another map.

Well, just type on the console player_magnetism, if the console returns true, then its enabled and the script its working.
