I was just looking through the list of maps and then i cam up on this one http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=6256

as soon as i seen it i know it was my first me ripped and turned in to some thing else, so i was just wondering if there is any thing i can do about it.

Well technically it isn't stealing. You released the .map file, and the programs already released are able to extract the BSP information from the .map.
All they did is take yours as a template and mod it. Which is what Halo CE is for in a way.

If you didn't protect your map, it's really easy to rip anything. Even if you did, there are a couple of ways around it.

I don't see the problem here.

First of all, you can't do squat about it, which is the harsh reality.

Second, why care? At least you know there is somebody out there that likes your map enough to want to bother to make a modified version of it. "Credit" is something hard to come by with modded maps, but at least if your original map is good enough and decent enough then anyone who see's it will know the original author (Another harsh reality).

Be proud that someone liked your work and wanted to elaborate on it. It is the basic foundation of what this community is about.

Hopefully,the "thief" didn't claim it as his own.

Well that's the only thing i don't want to happen. i don't really care if any one uses it as long as they don't call it there own work. and people can rip stuff from my maps all they want, it's how you learn and i am ok with that i mean i rip stuff to but i NEVER post it or call it my own.

No there isn't you have no copyright protections for any map made for Halo Custom Edition.

The map in question has been re-classified as a modified multiplayer map to indicate it was a mod and not an original map. It was classified in error. Thank you for pointing it out.

May I suggest that, if possible: New maps that are modified multiplayer maps have a link to the original map in the description or somewhere on the map page so that way it can act as some form of credit to the original map creator?

If I remember correctly you can ask for the Author's name on the map to be removed, that is if you have considerable evidence that it's your map. I believe it was done in the past at some point. Other than that it's in the file archive to stay I believe (unless you get a court order or something).

Well, the way I see it you have two options...

Hire a hitman or mercenary of some kind to track down Altheros and put him out of all of our misery........ (easier said then done depending on which country you live in.)

Or just let it go, many of the members around here are not known for maturity, honesty, respect, or any other good thing.

Besides, I think the moment most people see Altheros labelled as author for something we automatically know it isn't his work.

And maybe this guy is new to modding Halo and he just didn't know but idk the name had ASMT in it so it better not be a hole team.

Once you uploaded it to halomaps, the map file was no longer yours; even if you were to protect it.
