Not sure if this is for sure or not or if this is faked but this has recently been brought to light to me. Does anyone have anything to comment on this? Not sure if this is true or false but from what I know Bungie is done with halo so what gives? Anyway, if anyone has heard anything to deny or confirm this possibility, please post true or troll.

Well if you look at the facts as they stand today on 9/4/2011:

• 1 - Bungie no longer owns the Intellectual Property Rights to Halo. As part of their deal to become an independent developer they sold the rights to Microsoft. Reference: O Brave New World


• 2 - 343 Industries, a Microsoft game studio, now controls he Halo Franchise and has not announced any new PC games for Halo. Reference: http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/


• 3 - Halo 3 is listed on their official stats page as a Xbox360 game with no mention of a PC game.


• 4 - 343 Industries has announced Halo 4 and it too is is listed on their official stats page as an Xbox360 game with no mention of a PC game.


• 5 - 343 Industries is actively hiring and all the programming positions are asking for "Experience with Xbox 360" with no mention of PC game experience


• 6 - 343 Industries has announced that the Halo 4 title is the start of a trilogy which means that for the next 4-6 years their programmers will be actively developing the new games which means that there will be little time or resources to re-visit an old game that has two sucessors


• 7 - The "official" website for the Halo franchise is now an Xbox website sub-domain http://halo.xbox.com


• 8 - There is no PC logo, only an Xbox logo on any page of the Official Halo franchise website which would lead one to surmise that they only make Xbox titles</a>

So no this article is not true and it is so unlikely that one could say with confidence from the overwhelming evidence that Halo 3 will not be ported to the PC.

Yes that is true they also signed a ten year deal with Activision as part of their new independent status which gives them the rights to publish new games on a variety of platforms and devices. second reference: CNET

But they will not be doing anything with Halo anymore. 343 Industries owns the rights now.

Well honestly I'm fine with no more Halo games from them. I'm glad they stopped when they did, instead of dragging it out. I'm just anxious to see what their next game is and play it on PC.

Let me clear a few things up.

1)Aerospace has nothing to do with Bungie's next game, it is a platform to help independent game developers launch their mobile and social games.


2)Their new game, codenamed tiger, I believe has already been confirmed for a multi-console release.(I believe Xbox 360 and PS3 have been confirmed, but I am unsure about PC)

3)Everybody here seems to forget that Bungie were not the ones to port Halo onto the PC, that was done by Gearbox.(Possibly with Bungie's help but I'm not sure)

4)Even if they were to release it on PC, we most likely would never see anything close to the HEK. The simple fact is that most developers simply are not concerned with the modding community, and some are directly opposed(Microsoft). Maybe I am wrong about this, in fact I hope I am, but unfortunately this most likely will be the case.

I could be wrong about any of this, but this is just what I've gathered from what news I've heard from Bungie and the history of their game releases.

I think you misunderstood me. First, I didn't say all developers were opposed to modding. And second, I meant to say that I was hoping to be wrong about the fact that we most likely would never see anything like Custom Edition again for Halo.

Although I don't think the Kinnect sensor is a good example. Knowing Microsoft's usual anti-modding stance of things, the fact that we can even use it for things like mocap could have either been because they just made it compatible with PC like most of their other hardware that I've seen, or was just simply an oversight that they were not concerned about.

But I don't know a whole lot about the development of Kinnect. So most of this is just assumption based off Microsoft's past history on the subject.

Anyway, im pretty sure MS dosen't want another failure PC conversion of a Halo title. I mean - after letting down the majority of the players that were looking forward to H2V by completley messing it up.

Maybe they should let Gearbox handle it - I mean, they did pretty good porting H1 over to PC, and they even gave us an HEK we could work with properly...

That is, IF Gearbox still wanted to do something for Halo...

I've said this before, Halo will most likely stay Xbox exclusive because Microsoft needs to give people a reason to buy the console. That was the main reason I bought the 360.

as a gamer, if you don't want to have to put that much money into a computer, you can just go with console.
