well i found on xbox live it works well sometimes because u will get a bunch of people on ur team with mics and you can communicate with one another and organise a flag-run. this might b a problem because not everyone uses in-game voice chat on the pc.
also, you are relying on everyone to work as a team, ctf can b incredibly frustrating if ur trying to go for the flag and the rest of ur team is playing slayer. i say this because if you can hold the flag and drive u can go for a solo effort instead of relying on others. but then again i guess u can go through the man-cannon if u wanna make a solo run.
yeah, would work well both ways i guess, as long as it doesnt make it glitchy if u try to get in the drivers side with the flag.

UPDATE 1: Now you can jump up to the glass floor from the ramp.
Still to do in this area: Fix terrain UVWs that were not preserved. Replace deleted Seamseals.

UPDATE 2: Tunnel inserted.
Still to do in this area: Seamseals for snow and rock.

You really need to make your forerunner stuff look better. At the moment, its very plain just very gray. You need more brown it, light strips, and forerunner strips. The UVW's are also pretty bad.

Another thing you may want to do is blend the snow better.

I haven't blended the snow there at all, really. It's a to-do. Otherwise, you're not very helpful, I'm afraid. Sorry you don't like my UVWs as of yet, and the rest of the shadering is still out of my control.

A thought. Who is working on shaders? You need better speculars on your base bitmaps I think. The specular should not be too bright and it should overhighlight the edges of the high bump areas and shade a little bit the edges of the low bump areas.

It's not even shadering, its your textures and texture placement thats bad. Shaders are a cakewalk and come after you have everything set so you know how it will all look together...

There's not a cakewalk, actually. Page 24 and we're still not understanding that, are we?
qwerty is a good shaderer who is working with me to make the map look better. Right now he's away doing something, I think.

I'm liking it slappy, looking good so far, keep it up!
(Forerunner stuff does seem a bit plain though... try and make it more forerunnierish.)

Sorry I don't read every single page of a map thats being remade by some egoistical person who cannot listen to criticism for his life. You need to buck up and start listening to how you can you make your map look better and anything else, other than just a few random beta testers.

Needs to have more defining textures on the base, they need to be shinny. As of now it feels/looks like concrete, not metal.

Thats what i'v been saying. It's as simple as adding a reflection map

They use reflection maps/cubemaps.
The problem i think is a lack of specular in the texture.

I think the problem is a lack of a shaderer. The bitmaps do, in fact, have alphas on the diffuses and a cubemap set, so I'm doing sometihng fundamentally wrong. We will have to wait for our shaderer to return.

In missile pod news, I've just made some progress on the weapon tagging and damage effect stun proof of concept. What is needed to finish off this weapon tag:
-Fp
-New effects

Well, I take these pics from sapien using "Snipping Tool."
I haven't messed with the base shaders since others started working on them.

another thing I noticed is that you need dirt around the bases and other structures/rocks. right now it just hits the metal and looks pretty bad/unrealistic.

Oh don't worry slappy, me and maniac "fixed" the base shaders, just smooth the base please.
And I'm in China :) currently visiting my relatives, so I will be away for 3 weeks. They practically blocked most of the useful sites :(.
After seeing your tunnel, it looks good, but that's only 1 out of 2 tunnels in total, there's another opposite of the current tunnel, near the waterfall.

They blocked youtube, facebook, google cache, proxy sites that lead to any of the already blocked websites, etc. The library actually blocked google and forces you to use baidu.

Anyways, what's happaenananing>?

Er, well, I guess it's update time then.
-Working on missile pod tags and stuff
-Making time lapse screen captures of me working on the bsp.
-Halo 3 ui stuff when possible
Glad you guys are working out the shaders, because the audience flips a shid about the update pictures...
You say "smooth the base", but that's not the real problem. There are planar issues that I'm taking the time to remodel (you'll see when I show those time lapses sometime).
Hope you enjoy your trip, and good luck getting interwebs.
EDIT: Also kinda wondering if/how you guys are doing the streaks on the metal.

This map takes forever, and yeah, I guess I just have to shoo some people away. I would feel bad about it, but they don't care about the map.

Do you smell what the rock is cookin'?

That's basically just some new base geometry that I made in the time lapse.

That's a more dirty transition from grass to metal.

... and finally, that's one of my goals from before: make better transition from snow to rock and grass at this tunnel. I tried to get a point of view from the hill of the snowy area so you can see past the rock and trees.
Still to do: Just have to correct some material ID oopsies I made in the base copypasta.
The base malformaties are proportioned correctly and palanar/"smoothed" now.
New shader time, guys?

once again, you fail to blend the rocks with the grass. do that and it will look better

also, get someone like maniac to make you better base textures, as the ones on there look very gray and boring. new shaders aren't going to help change the diffuse of that. and like i said before, uvs.

also, when your going to make updates of your map at least take the liberty of doing it from ingame so there high quality.
