Ok cloudwalker put it this way: I have people constantly trolling, insulting me and misinterpreting the thread. You misinterpreted it, stating it would all be other people's stuff, something I've had enough of. You then said it would be boring, insulting me. I am sick of this also. Good news folks! The amazing amount of new tags released, including a UNSC Frigate, Shades, Covie ships, H3 Cove bipeds and weapons means this project just got a hell of a lot easier! THANK YOU HALO MAPPING TEAMS.

that's like comparing a crash fix to a map pack, there's a huge difference. in the industry, crashes are kind of a big deal and can prevent people from flat-out buying the game. it's much more profitable and important to fix crashes than releasing dlc, even if they charge for it. one person not buying a 50 dollar game is the equivalent of five people not buying 10 dollar dlc.

Yeah. Thats my brother and I's favorite map to play on. I find it really fun when you do endless gruntpocalypse on it with rocket launchers and bottomless clip.

I think everyone here should be encouraging Petera275, halomaps needs new enthusiasm, what happens when veteran map makers decide to move on or decide that issues in life are more important than making maps and stop producing as has happened all so often (more recently 'mooseguy')? Who will fill the void?
Sure Petera maybe biting off more than he can chew, and this is obvious to the veteran members, but instead of sarcasm, put downs and insults, how about useful suggestions and support? I've just read the entire thread for the first time and sometimes I'm astonished at the level of negativity projected upon someone who proposes a new idea and tries to drum up support. It really is disappointing.
Everyone who reads and posts on these forums has a common interest in Halo and creativity. We do all need to get along. Custom edition maps would evolve and be produced so much quicker if everyone put aside their ego's and worked together, sharing their creations and knowledge.
YES, everyone who creates deserves credit, respect and recognition, but at the expense of preventing and delaying new creations? No.
I don't know the numbers but considering the age of the program I'm guessing that Halo CE will slowly die out and not many will remember the individuals involved in each map, however, most will remember the successes, the maps and creations where map makers collaborated and produced quality products above and beyond what Bungie ever thought the Halo CE engine would produce.
So veterans, share your knowledge, encourage enthusiasm and creativity, just think, what are you really trying to achieve by telling someone they're an 'idiot' or that they're 'stupid'? Trying to make yourself feel bigger? Trying to limit Halo CE's development and progression? How about telling them they're being overly ambitious but maybe you can offer your help.
I'm just so tired of all the negativity in some of these posts, we all have a common interest, lets just create and enjoy :)

I volunteer to help in any way that I can. Let's do this, I agree with Ubergoober, we need to get together as a community and make something happen. Dreams turn into realities when humanity comes together. Just like in the Halo storyline, we dreamed of beating the Covenant and came together and beat them. Let's beat this Halo Reach Custom Edition shall we?

Again, I'm pitching some examples:
Anyone who can model should work on some reachlike model changes to the weapon set, vehicles, etc.
Using the bsp importer and gmax, someone could be in charge of adding more polys to the Halo 1 bsps, or otherwise upgrading the map.
If you feel you're good at texturing, or at least at tagging shaders, don't hesitate to post any reach-y detail maps, bsp textures, etc.

I hope we can consider the suggestions or developments the kind people in this thread have contributed. We need to work together, combining the abilities and talents of people who want to help.
I realize that some interested members are a bit new, and I know that some of the experienced ones could contribute if they knew how. I suggest that you hold a sign-up or something, so you can evaluate the skill sets and how it fits into your project outline. Basically, see who can do what.

Thanks everyone. My time is limited, so let's just do this.

Firstly, biped rigging/texturing: any help will be welcome.
Secondly, if anyone can get CtrlAltDestr0y to actually release stuff we may be on a roll (he's made fp legs, a target locator...you know the stuff).
Thirdly, please take into account I haven't even taken my GCSEs yet. Yes, this is ambitious, and will also most likely be glitchy.

I don't know if CAD will release but he will usually tell you how to do it.

I won't discourage an ambitious team that knows what their capable of. This team obviously does not. For one, you cannot rip physics from a game and then put it into halo. It's simply impossible without the original source code (which if you obtain it you are messing with illegal stuff bro) and a really good programmer.

Second, your post is invalid. Not all things are going to be all sugar, spice, and everything nice. The team should do their research and find out what they can even do with this very limited engine first.

Most projects can be undertaken in this engine, and any total conversion project is an ambitious one. Its possible, but obviously this team from the looks of it won't know a whole lot which makes it very slim that this will come out very well.

Like I said, find out what your capable of actually doing before undertaking something so overwhelming and time consuming where you might not get very far after putting a considerable amount of energy into it.
