The final model needs about half of that amount in tri's.

Try reducing the amount in the feet, especially the attachment points.
Reduce the pipe curve sections.
Reduce the chamfered areas to be just 1 section instead of 3.
Also, the cylinder thing at the top needs to just be 1 cylinder.

A lot of the things you have going here can be shown in the texturing, try to save poly count, because this is WAY too many polys.

STOP MAKING HORRIBLE RENDERS...

There are tutorials on here and on modacity on how to render, use them!

Or don't use any lights at all, can't see the model properly as parts are dark, generally the renders are just fail.

SHUT YOUR HOLE...
He uses gmax!

OMG stop replying to everyone who quotes you. I'm obviously not mad, I just copied the format of crit you use.

you could really lower the amount of sides on the cylinders you have. Maybe cut down the main one to about 3/4 of the total.

That wouldn't be as much of a problem if people would change the shadow of the lights to not be completely black. I sort of agree with anonymous there, but I disagree that no lighting should be used whatsoever. Having some lighting is necessary to make any kind of image worth anything whatsoever so It can at least accentuate, a little, any deviances in the model such as intrudes, extrudes, etc...

I think wireframe (F4, the hilights kind) is good for the same reasons. But then you have people criticizing the polys instead of the gun itself.

Not ego. I beleive I know what I'm talking about to an extent. So, you all think I know nothing...

And I know Gmax doesn't have a render button, but that doesn't mean he should put two lights RIGHT next to his model which causes shadows which stop people from giving accurate crit as the shadows may miss lead the crit.

If the light where placed correctly and did not cause big black shadows on the weapon and only lit up small parts then it would be okay.

Although in his render the lights are too close and at the moment they are not needed as it is a w.i.p. A simple wireframe will do fine to show where extrudes are.

Say I have an ego all you want, but I know what I'm talking about so take it or leave it. Don't want to improve then fine. :/

I put more than two lights on. I have them there cuz they look better. Im not doing a wirefame because everyone is going to point out unnecessary edges that i already know about. The edges are probably goin to have to stay there because my model gets really screwed up when I delete them. Therefore you get what you get and you dont have a fit. K? Cool.

It doesn't make it look better at all. Makes it look worse, sorry.

And why are you modeling if you say that? Don't post your work if you don't want crit or tips on how to improve it.. what's the point? You just said there are un-necessary edge's, so learn to fix them. It isn't difficult...

Stop being a wimp and say thing's like 'You get what you get'.

i doubt a 16-17 year old can be a contracted artist, let alone get the proper experience and degrees at that age.

That's REALLY close-minded. seriously, you can't FORCE him to change how he models.
I think you have a different idea than the rest of us of what "crit" and "taking crit" is.

its not forcing him how he models. its him taking help on what to fix in the model.
