OVERVIEW
ASCM is a complete reimagining of Halo's arsenal, and a vast overhaul of its particle effects. Every single weapon has undergone changes, most of them drastic, and several new ones are added; on top of this, most of these weapons' particle effects have been rebuilt from the ground up. The screenshots can do a far better job of illustrating this than I can. ... Things I already know about: -The SMG's sound will cut out and occasionally do weird things. This is just the way Halo CE handles looping sounds; there's nothing I can really do about it. -The Pistol's pickup icon has a silencer. The image editing software I use (GIMP) doesn't allow me to do as many tricks with alpha channels as Photoshop, so I can't properly make weapon icons. I'm using CMT's set of icons so that I have one for the SMG, but they don't have one for an unsilenced pistol. -The Plasma Burst does not have a unique model. I can't model to save my life, so I'm stuck recoloring existing models. If you or somebody you know is willing to model, skin, rig, and animate new weapons from scratch, please let me know. Thankfully, that's about it so far. --- THANKS TO Bungie/Gearbox - For the obligatory. Early access release at modacity FTW! Besides that, the gameplay itself was overall, very fun. I'm glad to say I used more plasma/alien weapons than human weapons for once. For example, the Plasma Pistol still acts the same, but it just looks and feels so much more "cleaner" than before. Another example (which I personally think is the best example), is the Plasma Rifle. It looks absolutely awesome now, and it acts more like a rifle, rather than an SMG. The plasma projectiles themselves look much better now, and blood decals from said projectiles look great. One, final example, would be the Needler. The projectiles seem faster, look much better, and overall act better than before. It just seems like it's even more powerful than it originally was, which is fine with me! For new weapons like the Plasma Spread (or whatever it's called), I like the idea of the weapon, but I personally just don't like to use it that much. Same goes for the SMG, but I was never a fan of the SMG in Halo 2 or Halo 3. Finally, the Magnum and the Assault Rifle both are weapons I occasionally to frequently use, as they are both still considerably good. But, like I said before, I'm starting to prefer the plasma weapons more than the human weapons thanks to this mod.

oh shi- particle overload to prevent ^ from happening to my pc, what's the avg fps of the campaign? and y do you call it "another stupid campaign mod"? for me this is the best that a10 can get.

Honestly, it's pretty much exactly the same as H1's Assault Rifle, with only a slight decrease in damage and a considerable increase in accuracy. Mine consistently stays above 60, but I have the benefit of a very powerful computer; how quickly it'll run obviously depends on your computer. I've tried to keep from using ridiculous amounts of particles, but in order to keep it looking as good as it does, I have to utilize quite a bit of power. I wish H1 had an option to just lower particle quality rather than outright turn them off, but we can only do so much. Well you can lower texture quality, and I would imagine that lowers particle quality since they are bitmaps, but I'm not sure.

Just a few questions...

While I covered this in the old thread, it's several pages back, so I'll say it again. Another Stupid Campaign Mod is a campaign mod. The weapons are designed and balanced to work in a single-player setting; not just damage ratios, but the actual function of the guns themselves. Even with some balance testing, the most I could do would be to stick them into a stock map and hope everything works out, since (as mentioned on several occasions) I can't model at all, much less create a decent map. Keep in mind, however, that the final release of a10-b40 will be unprotected, so anybody who wants to make a map centered around the mod's content will be free to do so themselves. Also, there are still many new and retooled weapons that won't show up until later in the campaign; a30 will include at least three entirely new guns, whenever that gets finished. A10 is a short level with very limiting design, and, being early in the game, I had to keep things fairly simple to fit the pacing.

I like how the grunts were actually a threat due to the plasma burst, it made you have to watch your back more because they had weapons that could actually do some damage. can't wait for the rest of this campaign!

A10 is an escape from an overwhelming invasion force, and to emphasize the fact that you're heavily outnumbered and outgunned, I took the liberty of lowering some health values for this map. Conversely, moments such as the beach scene in b30, where you're the ones on offense, will have the scales tilted slightly in favor of the Marines.

...it's a new weapon Infafudafi tagged in which just happens to use the Plasma Pistol as it's physical form. It does have a charge so it fits well, but it's more like a carbine than it is the plasma pistol itself.

While CMT's approach is to take the campaign and add as much new content as the engine will allow, my focus is less on completely overhauling SP and more on refining it. While the weapon set has been heavily modified and added to, priority 1 is to keep the game as fun as possible while retaining balance. Priority 2 is to make sure what is there is as polished and consistent as possible. Quality over quantity, basically. It was designed to be a sort of backup weapon if you don't have a long-range gun handy, but the primary fire's effectiveness at close range allows it to serve a purpose at nearly all ranges, which is highly unbalanced.

BAD IDEA lesson learned: grunts are grenade badasses still nice they actual have some powerful guns besides the fuel rod.
