Idea for a custom vehicle: a Ballista

I would suggest a custom vehicle for a medieval style: a crossbow turret - heavy, slow reload, clanking wind up, - large iron arrow flinger.





I would suggest a custom vehicle for a mediaval medieval style: a crossbow turret - heavy, slow reload, clanking wind up, - large iron arrow flinger.

Simplest/practical: On a tripod, fixed stationary - 360 rotation

Coolest:
drivable, slow, clunky - wooden wagon with poor turning radius - but turret is fixed to vehicle direction (allows for positioning)

Halo-ish:
Ballista-turret-hog, same speed as normal hog, firing rate about 1 every 3 seconds, mechanical - auto-reload (gettin medieval on your buttocks!)

Any takers? Some of you have mad skills . . .

I'm gunna do it out of boredom. Unfortunately I had the ballista model shown in those two pictures but i dismantled it into a futuristic tank. Ah well. Coming to think of it i'm perfectly capable of ripping both models and animations for that same ballista, but i want to do a custom one.

Is a WIP now. Needs unwrapping/texturing, and animating. I'll do that later

I see the next most-dowloaded vehicle tag! I will locate or create some sounds for both cranking, fire and twang, and bolt impact (even if you don't use them) but I gotta have a hand in this

Textured, now have to animate.
Not the best texture ever, but then i'm not a texturer.

I love both versions. If geared's version had a verticle axis, and the clearance above the wheels, it appears it could be a stationary turret with 360 rotation - but then after thinking about it, bad idea as no stock gunner seat would allow the mc to rotate along with it, and warthog gunner seat anim only spins on verticle axis (no walking, feet movement).

Both versions: if there was a brace from underneath that extended rearward, and a mock tractor style seat was attached, then you could use the g-driver anim - and possibly a driver hud with fp looking over the bow, and down the shaft - both versions could then use a verticle axis to allow 360 rotation - albeit slow - maybe just a left/right driver movement allows to rotate on vert axis?

Not suggesting a re-model - just wondering how the mc will interact, and if it will be a fixed direction for firing the bolt/arrow. - a matching projectile would be nice (with collision), I can tag pretty well and get it to fly in an arc, sounds, etc I could make a very small impact 'splosion - particles/debris that would be convincing without being unlrealistic. Right now the arrow looks - wooden? needs to be same metal as other metal.

Yeah, the bolt is unfinished, i can do all the stuff needed to get it ingame myself. I might add a kind of driver seat, not sure yet.

1: it has a unijoint for the actual joint between bow and carriage u can aim up and down and turn side to side
2: it has clearance, more then enough i tested it.
3:i can add a seat
4: i can make it have a small motor for the back and a axle with whels, and make the front the steering .
5:mine is a iron bolt(its on the min model, it can be detached)
6: ill edit it later today after some nfs world

Ok, it's finished, except third person animations. If anybody would be kind enough to donate 3 small 3rd person animations, that'd be great, i'll send you the model, but i'm terrible at animating.

Well, it's in game and everything, but the chief doesn't look right just sitting besides it, so i coud do with an animation of him pushing it along, an animation of him pulling the crank, and an animation of him releasing it.
