Is it FACTUAL THAT THEY WILL? No. Most people who worked on Halo once before are working at 343 Industries for the new games. Saying that Microsoft is cashcowing is just another way to cry for attention and to try to be funny. Yeah... becuase most of them were made in cooperation with Bungie. Halo Wars sucked, most of the new books suck (Cole protocol) and Halo Legends sucked except for a couple of the episodes. They were all released under 343 Industries. If it continues it will make halo look worse. And yes, Microsoft is a cashcow, if you haven't realize yet. Almost everything they sell or advertise with Xbox and its games are made to get cash in someway.

Quote: Bungie Weekly Update: 07.02.10 MLG FFA’s removal is the first step in preparing Halo 3 for Reach’s release. Between now and the day Reach is in your trembling hands we’re going to actively downsize and concatenate Halo 3’s matchmaking lineup. What does this mean?
1. Playlists are going to be combined, modified, or removed, based on how we predict they will perform once Reach is released. Ultimately the number of playlists will be reduced from its current number. 2. No new playlists will be added from this point onward. 3. Playlists will progressively become DLC required, leaving Social Slayer and Lone Wolves as the only DLC-optional playlists once again. 4. Double EXP weekends will come to an end on 9/13. But not before we throw them a little going away party. 5. 7 on 7th will live on, but beyond the release of Reach no further updates are planned for Halo 3 Matchmaking. Nothing special, I'd much rather see new playlists for Reach than Halo 3.

You probably played the campaign once and barely tried to do anything else wise. I liked Cole Protocol and Contact Harvest (for the record, both of those were approved by Bungie derp) and I thought half of Legends was entertaining. WELL NO DUH SHERLOCK. The point of a corporation/company is to MAKE PROFIT AND EARN MONEY. They know people will buy it and in the end they have to make their products good for people to buy in the future. I look forward to playing the Halo games by 343 because they have a professionally decent staff and have had some experience with the Halo world. The only components they are missing from Bungie (that would handicap them without it) are the story and concept writers. In other words, they have complete potential to make great games and in no way should the cashcow factor be nearly a reason not to think so.

I played through the single player and a bit of multiplayer. I still enjoy the soundtrack from the game to this day, along with bits and pieces of its small story. I read half of the Cole Protocol and found it very bad, and decided just to let it go. Writing was bad, characters were uninteresting, same with story. Contact Harvest was pretty decent. Halo Evolutions, the newest book, was bad though as well. The story's were meh. (My favorite book out of all of them is First Strike). Just becuase they are approved by bungie, does not mean there automatically good. Most of Halo Legends crap was pretty bad. I only found the episode's Origins 1 & 2 to be very entertaining. Most of the other ones, not so much. Also, just becuase they have a willing team of professionals, still does not automatically give them the say : We are creating the best game ever becuase we work on games in the industry and we are working on Halo. I don't think you get that almost every game studio has the same elements of development like Bungie. Any developer is able to create a crappy game or good game. It depends on there time, effort, and passion into whats making that game run. Edited by Higuy on Jul 2, 2010 at 11:02 PM

Halo Wars, if they did a CGI movie I would be more impressed seeing the rendering was awesome and that's the only thing that caught my eye seeing I followed it since 2006 only to be disappointed later.
Rendering >> Awesome Game Play >> no
But it's a matter of opinion and I hope you both should know that instead of bickering who is right. It's an opinion you both have on Halo Wars and the 2 books. But express it and flame each other for it if you wish.

Honestly, I'm not buying another Halo (unless Bungie DOES pick it back up in the future.) I'm a hardcore bungie fan more than a halo fan, as Myth was the second video game I ever played, Marathon being the fifth.

Lol, if you like microsoft and the way they make 'money' then sir, I must say: your still a kid and you don't understand life yet. ;) I like Halo. Microsoft annoys the daylights out of me because they charge too much for their services. I don't consider 343 Industries as Microsoft. My argument originally backed up 343 as being a potentially good team. It then degraded down to the cashcow stuff. My points aren't revolving around Microsoft; they were revolving around 343 making new, good Halo games. If my posts are making me look bad, then obviously those thinking it don't know me well enough to understand that I don't go with the crowds on some things. It's called becoming an individual with my own ideas. I'm not saying that yours are wrong, but I am saying that people over exaggerate about Microsoft being a cashcow this far. It works, it's really stylistic, and although I'm as fond of them as ICEE is I still find them to do the job and fit well into the game. Same animations are used for this new Medal of Honor (which just looks like BC2 [well, it is the same engine] with modern [competitive] Call of Duty multiplayer). I was mostly, like I said, looking towards F3AR and Bioshock. F3AR has the worst origins and just everything I've ever seen in a 'professional' game. Sure it's a new developer but there's no excuse for it. Honestly, it looks like the animator is freakin' brand new, like he didn't even go through college and get a degree. They probably did pick him up off the streets or something. Bioshock also suffers with one of the worst animators I've ever seen. Lacks any proper timing, realism, ANYTHING. It's just ridiculously robotic and OVERDONE to a point that I cry.

Wannnn it's a game. Bioshock even isn't supposed to be real. Fear 3, who gives a crap about focusing that much on FP animations, there's a TON more to look at then just the fp animations, story line, game play. Quit whining unless you want to send them a freakin email whining about the fp animations.

Yeah, it's a game, with people who are professionals working on it.
So why then, could I easily animate better than some of the people who are working on top-notch games like the ones I mentioned? It's just sad, and don't give me that "it's just one part of the game" because it's an important one and screwing it over that badly is just ridiculous especially when you're supposed to be a professional at what you're doing.
Edit: Yeah I know of the possibility that it isn't actually their main art and perhaps they're just a 3p animator and had to do FP but it's still a little sad. Edited by ODX on Jul 3, 2010 at 01:53 PM

Unfortunately for me if a game has terrible fp animations I don't bother to play it just because I can't stand looking at them all the time X_x It completely kills gameplay for me too and the feel of all the weapons to a point that I don't care anymore. I tried not to make a big deal about it, and just pointed it out lightly but everyone's biting my ass about it now.

I really can't think of any good games with noticeably, needlessly bad animations. I've noticed bad animations from here, though. Quote: --- Original message by: Newbkilla Though we might lack a few years of experience, what we have that the professionals don't have is the endless creativity here in our forums. I'm not seeing 'endless creativity' here, no offense. The most impressive stuff I've seen here is just copying from later Halo games. Sure, you could say that stuff like Yoyorast Island is creative, but that's not the sort of map Bungie would make in the first place, so it's a bad comparison. I can't think of anything that beats Bungie at its own game, so to speak. I'm not sure there's much that's even on par with Bungie.

I mean, why even make it on there? the controls totally suck compared to PC, even more than FPS on console. The whole point of Halo Wars is to try and make a console RTS. Not to mention the game has good controls. Anyone who cries about not having hot keys needs to seriously get over it. I played Age of Empires on PC for a long time and never once used a hot key. It was probably the most fun I've had in a game too.

Highly competitive players playing highly competitive RTS games require hotkeys. Though you may not have needed them, I can recall many instances in which I've needed hotkeys in order to facilitate simultaneous retreats and ambushes, as well as provide fire support ad reinforcements. I'm not saying that Halo Wars wasn't / isn't a fun game, nor am I saying that hotkeys are required to make it fun, but hotkeys are an essential part of competitive strategy gaming.
