I was bored for a while so I came up with an idea for a campaign style map.
I got the idea after playing e10 through e60 and then playing firefight-portent.
And yes I have started this project. 'Cept I need some help.
Progress:
Under new management: 40%
Proving grounds: 99%
Search and Rescue 89%

Note: I am probably not going to use custom BSPs. I might be able to but I don't think so.
I sorta know how the Weapons are gonna work.

Main Characters

John (guy you play)
The Director (guy you used to work for)
Manager (the new guy you work for)
Yet unnamed ODST (assistant)


Main stuff


It starts off with an ex-merc telling a (or some) friends his story of when he was a mercenary. And while he is talking about a job in a city it goes to a city that is somewhat large but very close, not un-like the map no remorse. And he is there for like an assassination and goes and he kills the person, blah blah blah.

And it goes through and all the time he is directed by some named (I haven't thought of a name yet but I was thinking of just calling him ''director'') that tells him what to do and gives him useful info. And at certain points it goes back to the merc and the guy and like the guy asks a question about something.

And at the end he gets hired by someone new to kill the original director guy. Then he goes and has to hunt down the director guy till at last he finds him and they have maybe a hand-to-hand combat fight or something like that.

And as he goes along and completes objectives and kills enemy's and completes mission he earns points like in firefight-portent, which he can use to upgrade his weapons like getting a better scope for sniper or getting silencers for different weapons.

How he would upgrade stuff:
I am thinking before each mission he starts off in a armory and there is a menu (like in firefight-portent) where he can buy stuff and it appears in the armory. (WEAPONS) And the temp stuff goes away after he leaves the armory but perma stuff stays there. Still thinking about how to do the other stuff.



Weapons


Defaults weapons:

>>CQB missions: SMG and pistol
>>Mid-range missions: Assault rifle and pistol
>>Long-range missions: Sniper rifle and assault rifle

Temp. unlock-able weapons (use for one mission):

>>Shotgun
>>Rocket launcher
>>Flame-thrower
>>Plasma rifle
>>Plasma pistol
>>Needler

Permanently unlock-able weapons (use for all missions):
>>SMG
>>Sniper
>>Assault rifle
>>Shotgun
>>Battle rifle (replaces Assault rifle)

Equipment


Default equip:
>>4 Frag grenades
>>Flash-light (low powered) (on suit)

Temp. unlock-able equip:
>>4 Semtex grenades (in place of frags)
>>4 Plasma grenades
>>High power flash-light (like a flood light) (on suit)
>>Active camouflage generator (4 seconds) (in place of on suit flashlight)
>>Better active camouflage generator (8 seconds) (in place of on suit flashlight)
>>Best active camouflage generator (12 seconds) (in place of on suit flashlight)

Permanently unlock-able equip:
>>4 Semtex grenades (stick to anything they touch minus energy shields)
>>4 plasma grenades
>>High power flashlight (on suit)
>>Bandolier (gives you full ammo by default)

Weapon upgrades


SMG upgrades:
>>Silencer (AI don't hear you)
>>Sight (2x zoom) (accuracy is better)
>>Lazar (better accuracy)
>>Silencer and Lazar
>>TAC-light (low-powered light) (only usable with active camo gen.)

Assault rifle upgrades:
>>Silencer
>>Lazar
>>Extended mags (60 rounds instead of default 32)
>>TAC-light
>>Explosive ammo (Rounds make a small explosion on impact very loud)

Sniper upgrades:
>>Silencer
>>Extended zoom scope (4x and 10x instead of 2x and 8x)
>>FMJ (more powerful rounds)
>>Extended mags (7 rounds instead of default 4)

Shotgun upgrades:
>>Silencer (reduces spread so not as effective as a ''fly-swatter'')
>>Lazar (slightly improve accuracy)
>>Bigger shells (Fires about 24 shots instead of default 18)
>>FMJ
>>Extended mags (12 rounds instead of default 8)

Pistol upgrades:
>>Silencer
>>Lazar
>>Scope (adds a 2x zoom feature)
>>Extended mags (18 rounds instead of default 12)
>>FMJ
>>Ratshot (like shotgun rounds) (fires 8 pellets instead of 1 slug)

Battle rifle upgrades:
>>Silencer
>>Scope (2x zoom) (accuracy is better)
>>Red dot sight (1.5x zoom) accuracy is slightly better)
>>Noob tube (grenade launcher) (very loud) (fires single grenade)
>>Shotgun (under barrel shotgun) (basically a GL that fires shotgun rounds)
>>FMJ
>>TAC-light
>>Extended mags for BR
>>Extended mags for under barrel GL
>>Extended mags for under barrel shotgun


That's about all I have thought of right now. Sound like it would be fun?
Lemme know what you think of it.
EDIT: BTW I don't know how to do all of this yet but I want to try and figure it out with maybe some help. It was just an idea I had.

silencers work in hce... you can set how far away you can be from ai for them to hear it. all you got to make a silenced sound

Like I had said that was all I had thought of yet.

How the upgrades would work is have a silenced snipe and a reg snipe and if you get silencer for sniper it swaps you out for a silenced version.
And have all sniper versions take same ammo and all SMG versions take same ammo and so on. you would only be able to upgrade you guns at the start of the missions

if not then I would have to say to make it that you get points/credits for everything you kill and then access it in the pause menu (obviously) I cant help with the map making though cuz I dont have the stuff for it but I also have to say that you should add an option to modify what you weapon has on it, like in crysis but just through the pause menu

You people are putting too much trust into the pause menu. Who's going to make a pause menu so elaborate that it'd cover all of these points? And more importantly, who's going to script all of this?

actually on the side of none (if any) scripting we could use the console, I mean i would think making the command codes would be simpler since we need the devmode or command console or whatever you call it to play the map, although like I stated I dont make maps so I have no clue how this works

How do you create new dev commands? That's right! Scripting.

No this is not the e10 series.
As I said it was just an idea for a map(s) that would be epic if it were made.
Also I was thinking about having a thing at the beginning of the map that had a menu for all this junk.

If I figure out how to do all this I will a'cept I don't have all the models.
Of all the weapons I have seen that I would use (if i could) are Gammas junk.

Gamma, I want you tags folder.

Anyway, I would like to (if I made it) make it as noob friendly as possible. Like make a optional training map (which I actually am working on xD) but I don't have all the weapons.

this would take to much time, and it would be released on an outdated engine. sure, youll get it done, but more and more people are stopping playing halo CE.

UPDATE: I am working on the first mission right now but I need a little help. How do I make more then one line of text in the HUD message like in e10? I just need some help with that real quick.

Nother thing I need help with is:
How do I drop a nav point on a guy?
Almost have it except sometimes it will not show the hud messages for some reason. I go through the trigger that should call the script that shows the hud messages but the don't show.

Try not to be impatient. Several of us have lives outside of Halo and aren't able to respond 24/7

Object refers to the name of the unit that you want.

Offset is how high above the unit you want the navpoint to display. A nice real would suffice, probably 0.6

Gamma, do you still have the script for the points?
Also how do I out more then one line of text for a HUD message?

Like instead of:
asdf: blah blah blah blah

have:
asdf: blah blah
blah blah
blah blah

How would I do this?
I tried what the guy said about putting ''|n'' but that doesn't work.

Also does anyone wanna make me an armory BSP? basically all it would need to be is take this:
