Flanker that looks really cool. I like how you took a complex idea of say narrows but modeled it to its barebones of what it should look like in h1. I hope you have an idea on how to incorporate that into a complete level.

Quote: --- Original message by: il Duce Primo I like how you took a complex idea of say narrows but modeled it to its barebones of what it should look like in h1. I actually modelled it based off of this concept image I found on a thread here at hmf, forgot what it was called but it had something to do with things cut from CED and stuffs: Quote: --- Original message by: il Duce Primo I hope you have an idea on how to incorporate that into a complete level. Urrrmmmmm.....I don't really have any idea what I'm going to do with it. Tbh it was either this or sleep. Although I will chuck it over here when I'm done. I have no use for it really other than to prove to myself that I don't totally suck. (I do.)Quote: --- Original message by: XxPopeAK49xXChamfers? Otherwise, great start. Chamfers I sort of label under "detail" which I really don't care to tackle until I am happy with my proportion and overall foundation of whatever it is I'm doing. I can't iterate just how unhealthy it is to keep a constant cycle of fiddling, and detailing and starting all over again because you found one thing you didn't like e.t.c I will add some chamfers I just need to fuse everything together and make sure I am happy with everything before I commit to the final mile. :) As of now I'd say the thing is what 55% done maybe? If I'm being generously optimistic that is. I've added a cliff face just like in the reference, I have to say though It isn't easy to match up proportion from perspective type art. Kind of a nightmare if I'm really honest. Right now I have 3 objects I just need to tinker with here and there: Before I add a super simple rear room since there are some hints to it in the image and y'know seal it all up and of course chamfer stuffs too. Maybe uv's? No promises. Edited by Dennis on Sep 4, 2016 at 02:26 AM

Well there's some shape there, which is nice. Your triangulation seems a bit random though.

The 'floor' of the canyon should be flatter. A river running through parts of it would be cool too.

When thinking of that map as a giant footprint it does actually take on a cinematic dimension that could have some good story associated with it. This is ofc with the right cinematic and I'm not sure if this was to original intent. Make some lemonade and see what you get.

Thanks guys for your feedback. I am having a problem fixing one of the complaints, which is to smooth out the ground. I have used the smooth tool to smooth the ground but that did nothing. I also tried using the vertices way but that would take to long. I think the problem is that I made the floor using triangles first. I should have used squares first.

quads are always easier to work with at first. try tesselating some of the faces, turn it into an editable poly and i believe there is a button to convert to quads

Max's quadrify tool sucks. You're better off selecting edges in editable poly and hitting backspace to quadrify manually
