I learned how to make low poly ferns

Call it low-poly now, but if you need to put a couple of hundreds in your map, the poly count will rise a lot...

Edgy

So edgy you could cut yourself.

Be careful please!

Also by dynamic lighting I think he was referring to the slight normal map effect which shows up to a degree on the texture of his open ended structure.

So that is why the xenomorph queen I dated back in 2095 was hesitant to get serious.

I thought she was using me, now I know it's just a part of her nature and it can't be helped.

Thanx fam! You helped me find love again!

Well, I'll bring some new live in this forum section.

I've improved game maker's 3D lighting (hurray), I'm also trying to add in some shadows.

Comparison of game maker's built in vertex lighting and my per-pixel lighting shader:

GM's vertex lighting:

My per-pixel lighting:

Also, here is a test with shadows:

Add some brains. He isn't at that point yet clutz.

@loler. Achieving per pixel is a real great leap in the development of your ngin congrats!

When you get a chance though I suggest you take a look at "deferred shading" once you have all the bases down that is.

Thanks, and I've taken a look at deferred rendering, but it's a little bit too hard for me atm, I've literally made less then 10 shaders atm, I'm impressed that I could even make something as per-pixel lighting

Add some chickens.

Nice that you're learning the ropes of 3D rendering.
I wouldn't personally bother with implementing your own rendering pipeline, be it immediate or deferred. Just use a standard engine that has the features you need.

Unless you're doing it for the learning experience of course. In that case, definitely carry on. You will learn a lot of cool stuff as you break through boundaries.

I'm curious though, what are your gamedev goals?

This is mostly learning ;)

Wew, my gamedev goals, that's a hard one. I think that what I really want to do is to make things others never did before. (Which I've done with pseudo 3D, therefore I LOVE pseudo 3D xD)

What's yours?

Ge zijt goed bezig man! (= You are good busy, in flemish/dutch...)

Right now I'm honestly still not sure what my longterm goals are.
I have a fulltime job as a database programmer, and I'm combining that with doing indie game development in the spare-time that I can allot to it.

Really enjoy doing the combination, although sometimes I wake up with the feeling that I'd really love to just spend my dayjob doing this indie game programming instead :-)
But at the same time being an indie doesn't have the job security that I have right now, nor would it have the social interactions that my current job requires.

I suppose I'll see how it progresses. Thinking it might be interesting to alter my current contract in the future to only work 4/5 weekdays fulltime, so I can invest that extra day into indie gamedev stuff. Would be an interesting combination I reckon!

Ik versta je hoor, ik ben Nederlands. ;) (= I'm able to understand you, I'm Dutch. in Dutch)

Thx!

Database programming, well that's something interesting to do.

I would also like to just make indie games myself, but I know that it isn't a great idea not having a job besides of my hobby. But I'll try to study in Breda for game development and after that I'll see what I do with my skills.

I wish you the best of luck with your indie game, even if I'm more interested in the engine you made for it. ;P

Also, nice shaders Halonimator, I would like to see the skin shader aswell :)

Nice try though.

Yeah, that's because I had to add them manually.
Resampling the image made the eyes rather unremarkable. So I drew them in to give the boar its happy look and character.
