Call it low-poly now, but if you need to put a couple of hundreds in your map, the poly count will rise a lot...

add some ai Add some brains. He isn't at that point yet clutz. @loler. Achieving per pixel is a real great leap in the development of your ngin congrats! When you get a chance though I suggest you take a look at "deferred shading" once you have all the bases down that is. Edited by Super Flanker on Aug 11, 2016 at 01:42 PM

Thanks, and I've taken a look at deferred rendering, but it's a little bit too hard for me atm, I've literally made less then 10 shaders atm, I'm impressed that I could even make something as per-pixel lighting Edited by lolslayer on Aug 11, 2016 at 05:00 PM

Add some chickens.
Nice that you're learning the ropes of 3D rendering. I wouldn't personally bother with implementing your own rendering pipeline, be it immediate or deferred. Just use a standard engine that has the features you need.
Unless you're doing it for the learning experience of course. In that case, definitely carry on. You will learn a lot of cool stuff as you break through boundaries.
I'm curious though, what are your gamedev goals?

Ge zijt goed bezig man! (= You are good busy, in flemish/dutch...)
Right now I'm honestly still not sure what my longterm goals are. I have a fulltime job as a database programmer, and I'm combining that with doing indie game development in the spare-time that I can allot to it.
Really enjoy doing the combination, although sometimes I wake up with the feeling that I'd really love to just spend my dayjob doing this indie game programming instead :-) But at the same time being an indie doesn't have the job security that I have right now, nor would it have the social interactions that my current job requires.
I suppose I'll see how it progresses. Thinking it might be interesting to alter my current contract in the future to only work 4/5 weekdays fulltime, so I can invest that extra day into indie gamedev stuff. Would be an interesting combination I reckon!

Would be an interesting combination I reckon! Ik versta je hoor, ik ben Nederlands. ;) (= I'm able to understand you, I'm Dutch. in Dutch) Thx! Database programming, well that's something interesting to do. I would also like to just make indie games myself, but I know that it isn't a great idea not having a job besides of my hobby. But I'll try to study in Breda for game development and after that I'll see what I do with my skills. I wish you the best of luck with your indie game, even if I'm more interested in the engine you made for it. ;P Also, nice shaders Halonimator, I would like to see the skin shader aswell :) Edited by lolslayer on Aug 12, 2016 at 09:13 AM

Using words like "Dielectric and "conductor" doesn't make you more like racer445 and it doesn't magically make your base-sick spec highlight more believable. Nice try though.

Yeah, that's because I had to add them manually. Resampling the image made the eyes rather unremarkable. So I drew them in to give the boar its happy look and character. K ;(
