Some ass hole has decided to download my hornet, from modacity where I posted a download link. Because people needed it for a comp. Well, I trust modacity members not to abuse my trust, be obviously kid from here visits there and decided to set some people up.

Well, here are some facts:





Download the model, open it, and compare. It is mine. And I did NOT release it. Seems as I have no choice now, which I am NOT happy about. So reply to my post, and tell Dennis it is my model, so he has some proof and will change the auther and unwrapper. And you should know it is DEEhunters unwrap because I doubt anyone else can make a good unwrap like that.

I don't operate on YOUR time at or at your beckoning. These kind of disputes turn my stomach and make me want to take the entire website down and tell all you self absorbed gamers to fend for yourself. If you couldn’t wait for me to get back into the office to remove the authorship then you need another life.
You should just keep your mouth shut. Every time you open it you place your size twelve’s squarely between your teeth. I have no interest in the infantile drama that seems to consume your daily life in these forums. I have watched you repeatedly try to make yourself look “special” by showing off partially finished works then brag at how easy it was or when that fails by denigrating other peoples work. If you want to be “special” just finish something and release it without opening your self-aggrandizing mouth.

I agree with this. Beachparty, you should learn the difference between negative attention and positive. What you are getting right now is negative attention and should be avoided. Positive attention is gained by doing nice things (releasing finished tags to the public, encouraging newcomers), rather than stupid/mean things (bragging, flaming, putting people down).

Hunter, I would in no way trust Modacity members in any way unless you know they can be trusted. Saying what you said was downright ridiculous and in many ways is just stubborn. Realize something right here: anyone can submit to Halomaps. If you trusted someone at Modacity with a PUBLIC LINK, then you're just being played the fool.

This is also what happend to Snowtrap.i suggest dont show public links in modacity

The fact you made this mistake is just pathetic after the same thing happened to inferno. Not only are you STUPID enough to post something PRIVATE on a PUBLIC forum, you didn't even learn from his mistakes.

laughing at how this is turning into a modacity bashing thread. simply put, if you didnt think to go ahead and upload it here when you decided to post a link in a public place, then thats really your own fault. if it was meant to be private, then you should have distributed it to trustworthy people via pm or im. but seeing as how it was a public competition, i dont really see whats wrong with this anyway. its going in bacons map so youll get your credit there, dont get your panties all up in a bunch over this.

Even though I can't match up to such work... I would at least like someone who claims they are all that to produce all that... like a model of a Hornet that is almost so identical it could be called "ripped"

Only then is it really all that other than that it just another fan model of a hornet.

Oh and yea for Modacity =) I so happy they love to share their stuff with us =D

p.s proclaiming that it is DEEhunter unwrap only because you doubt anyone else can do such a good job makes you conceited... and him in a way...

If I'm reading this right, you want teens and young adults in high school/college with maybe 4 or 5 years of amatuer modelling experience to Hornet on a level consistent with 25+ year old professional game developers with 10+ years of experience and a job at a professional and well-off game studio.

That is a completely unrealistic request. If you want models that look exactly like Halo 3's, go play Halo 3. There is no doubt that there are very fantastic modellers here, but hoping for something like that is just unreal.

The unwrap is average at best, and could have been done by anyone.

Im pretty sure that if Dennis chooses to change the author then it would be changed to anon.

Nobody cares.

Then it's your fault and you have no room to complain. You posted a download link on a site most anyone can go on, and in a sense, released the model.

Dennis has already set the rules, and they are final word every time. No matter what you say he will not change it, so learn from your mistakes and quit whining.

I did unwrap it. The model is even called "headusUVexport." Headus being the tool I used when uv mapping.

Also the unwrap is nearly 4 months old...

I say we all download it, make box maps, then release them all with the credit going to ourselves. Don't forget to add the nukes.

That made me cry a little. I'm sorry, but you make Modacity members look bad. Last I heard you were randomizing your password, never visiting here again, and never releasing a map over some stupid legality of ownership drama. And here you are, whining over some open sourcing of your stuff.

You're a victim all right. A victim of your own actions. By posting this publicly on Modacity out of pure trust, you assume it was a Halomaps user. It's just as likely a Modacity member. You seem to think Modacity is this perfect utopia and Halomaps is some sort of short bus. Neither place is perfect, both have pros and cons.

That's like saying 360 is perfect, and the Wii and PS3 are complete garbage. They all have their pros and cons. All have good points and bad points.

This engine is open sourced and free to use. These people worked hard (and are currently still working) on this engine. However they're giving it out for free for people to use, not even asking for donations.

Two people work on this content. All of the code is open sourced. People can do what they want. Looking at this, you absolutely HAVE to admit that these guys are much more professional at what they do than you are. They model, texture, animate, AND CODE all of their weapons. People are allowed to do what they want with it.

With that said, let me ask you something. What makes your model so special that you don't want it released to the public? You're work is good, but nothing exceptionally impressive. Don't say "It's a work in progress." If you released it on Modacity, it's a release. If it was posted in a public thread, it was a public release.

And, I must ask. Why are you so against open source? Tons of games have modding with no way of encryption. Source and Unreal both. In those communities, people mod out of creativity and fun. However, you seem to just want attention, credit, and publicity. If you want that so bad, have your own website with a downloads page and forums dedicated to your projects so people will know who did it. Keep an updates section so people don't get left behind with your older stuff. Problem solved.

All in all, you need to chill.

Oh and I wouldn't be surprised if someone did this specifically to piss you off. If they did, I bet this thread was very, very satisfying for them.

once a file has been put into halomaps it can not be taken off. any way nice moddel. i'm downloading it and gonna add it to my halo 3 gulch!
