Does anyone think there will be a Halo 4? Or will that be Reach? If you skip ahead about 6:00 minutes into the video. You will see the MC and cortana start to "fly" to a nearby planet. Is that Reach? I'm sorry if this question has been asked millions of times already. I had a very rough day and I am too tired to go look it up right now. Please don't flame me.

Yeah that would be the "hidden legendary ending," and nobody knows if that will be Halo 4. I heard that ODST would have been bungie's last Halo project, but then they came out with Halo: Reach, So I'm not sure if there will be a Halo 4, but I sure Hope so =D.

Reach is a prequel, 'Halo 3' is the end of the Halo story arc there can only prequels in the Halo universe now. That's not to say Master Chiefs story can't go on.

True. But' I don't think they will end the Halo series quite yet. Other than prequels though. How will the MC get back to earth then? There has to be something after Halo Reach.

lol, basically that ending scene is there to tell us that the remains of the ship entered the planet's atmosphere and burned up killing Mastercheif and Cortana with it.

The Covenant is dead; the 'Halo' story arc is finished. Like I said it's very possible for players to re-assume the role as the Master Chief but it's not going to be happening in the Halo story arc, it would take place in another series or title (such as Marathon). The Master Chief doesn't need to get back to Earth because Earth is safe now, they don't need him anymore, the ending of Halo 3 was a full circle putting MC back where he started (in a cryotube.)

So what of the grunts, brutes, jackals, drones, hunters, lekgolo, and all the other species of the covenant besides elites? Its not like they all of a sudden joined into an alliance with the humans.

No.

They Suck. They'll probably split from the already crippled covenant and go home. (those who are still alive) And if they resist, they'll probably be pwned by the elites. You really think a grunt can command a whole cruiser, accuratly navigate it through slipspace to earth, and then launch an effective attact against the humans, Who may I add, probably are now loaded with a bunch of advanced Covenant technology given to them by the elites.

Even if they do, it's not going to be called "Halo 4"
it wouldn't even be about halo. Actually, After Halo 1 the story hasn't even been about Halo anymore. Halo was barely made it in toi "halo 3." They should change the name to "Arc" or "Covenant."

Let me think of a story.

Lord hood is locating the frigate,they rescue MC before he goes to that planet,Some other prophet take charge of the covenant,Cortana died (as shes an AI,her chip explodes).
They found out,that the planet the cheif was going to,was the planet the flood started to..revive and stuff,the whole planet is stuffed,its like an halo ring,just a slight more powerful,It has a new monitor,The elites found out that squids are theyre brother,and that human eat squids,the elites rejoin the covenant,MC must defeat the covenant and the flood
by HIMSELF and whats left in UNSC.And then the squirrel armada come and save everyone.

Thats all what i can think of now

also they can make MC prequels.

They were floating towards a forerunner planet. So it wouldn't be called Halo 4 since all the Halo's were deactivated. Halo: ODST takes place in the Halo 2 timeline so that isn't a Halo 3 sequel and Halo: Reach takes place before Halo 1. Bungie even stated, G4, Halo 3 launch day, that there will not be another Halo game after Halo 3. They also said it doesn't mean they are finished with the Halo Universe meaning the characters and the story. Which is why every Halo game coming out is a prequel, because you Finished The Fight for the Halo's in Halo 3.

they should surprise us in the next bungie day :D

And after that,they should discover 7 more spheres and call them the balls!!

oh golly happyness, 1 year, cant wait.

Time warp happens and Cortana and the Cheif fall through it and end up being picked up by the Pillar of Autuum. Cortana and the cheif are breifly seperated. When they fall through , and Cortana decides to keep it a secret. She manages to fight off the past "Cortana" and replaced her , plus taking the older one's processing power. The cheif is found in a cyrogenetic tube , and picked up on the POA. He is woken up by Cortana when the Coveneant track them from Reach.

If there was halo 4 here's what it would be like:

the frigate crash lands on a strange planet.you take your assault rifle and begin to search the planet.You fight strange creatures that inhabit the planet and you'll probably find some strange forrunner temple or something (the bungie's mind goes that would probably happen)
then you find out it's a map room that could lead you to a place that has technologies that could help you contact the unsc at earth as well as unlock technology far beyond human or elite.but chances are some covenant rebel pirate group would find out about the room after narrowly escaping the ark with a few covenant ships and they hope to take technologies to reform the covenant and be even more powerful than before when they reform (they are probably led by some brute shaman that says he has spoken with the gods and believes the key to divine salvation is locked in that room.So you spartan 117 and cortana race to get to the forrunner room while fighting rebel covenant,sentinels,and all the new viscious planet inhabitants.You eventually make it to the forrunner room,and not only find a way to get back to earth,but find things like portable offense protector and healer producers powered by strange crystals,you also find a way to contact earth,and find a strange slipspace portal door.When you use the forrunner device to contact earth,they tell you to explore the place beyond that forrunner portal and that the unsc will send ships to engage the covenant rebels and get chief and the technologies off that planet.You,masterchief, take some technology with you as you explore the new realm and when you're there you notice the horizon curves up in all directions like a sphere (sound familiar?).So you explore this new place and fight forrunner machines and blow sentinel factories until you discover:The Spartans from the book halo ghosts of onyx (fred ash and all them) where you learn of kurt's fate and that the portal you entered might be closing,so you race to find a cartographer that confirms that the portal door is closing,and you and all the other spartans race to get to the exit.all the spartans get through the portal but you and fred.at that point the door is so small that only 1 of you can make it through before the portal closes,and fred volunteers to be the one that stays.you make it through,link up with the ships,and begin the long journey back to earth.
