hi, i have to run halo in safemode, because my computer is old and bad. i had a different orum like this, which ended in the person saying that there isn't any sound because my computer is old (he reckoned safemode doesn't disable sound). but when i played it without safemode, it had sound, meaning my computer isn't as bad as it seemed. i really want to have sound, chat would also be nice, but not essential. i don't really care at all what else get's disabled to me, it looks like something to do with layering. this is what my halo looks like without safemode: but it doesn't stay like that, it flickers really fast between that and what it's supposed to look like. thanks in advance =) Edited by protozero156 on Apr 12, 2009 at 03:22 AMjust though i might add proof of my bad computer Edited by protozero156 on Apr 12, 2009 at 04:01 AM

I'm sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to play Halo. You most likely have a bad graphics card which will disrupt your playing.

Look in the Halo settings, make sure every thing is on high, or the best there is.

My PC has that same video adapter. Sorry, but you won't be able to play halo as it doesn't use Transform-and-Lighting technologies.
edit» unless you wanna play it like that ;) Edited by OrangeJuice on Apr 12, 2009 at 10:50 AM

Start it in Safe Mode. Do that by clicking on the icon and holding control after you do. It worked for me when I was on my crappy PC, but you won't be able to see messages.

wait.. if it works in safemode, that means it somehow downgrades the game so that i can play it without it glitching like that, doesn't that mean if i disable the right things, i could have sound and chat? Edited by protozero156 on Apr 12, 2009 at 09:11 PM

If your PC has a PCI Express slot, and you want to stay within the cheap-price range, you can buy an NVIDIA GeForce 8300GS with 128MB if video ram for 15$ plus shipping at geeks.com
It will be able to play this game at 800 by 600 with full specular and no slowdown.
