I've been quiet about this for a while now. A few of you here will remember this project from back in may of 08, a few more of you will remember it from later on. Anyway it's time to say that the project is coming close to being finished.

Older pictures :

Fresh Renders :

Rossmum, a while back you recommended changing the theme from generic snow and ice, to desert and glass. Well after teaming up with mass, after TeeKup's suggestion, we decided on going with your desert idea.

Big thanks to both of you.

As far as progress goes. The map is ingame, populated, balanced and play tested in between 6v6, and 8v8.

There still is a lot to be finished though, we're still altering the stock textures to fit in a desert level. We also need a sky, so if anyone is good at setting those up and wants to volunteer don't hesitate to contact me. There is also a lot of out of level geometry to make, along with a lot of pretty level design, but the list of things to do is quite extensive and I'm not going to write it all out.

That's about it folks.

E: oh christ forgot to even mention mass

He did all the forerunner stuff, except the stuff in the first and second pictures.

The base and middle bridge thing is all his incredible work.

Halomaps seems to downsize the pictures, use rightclick --> Properties to get the URL and open them in full res.

Really well thought out, it looks very simple but hints at complexity. Good job.

Wow, I remember pics of this.

So are the Forerunner object getting their own new bitmaps, or are you going to use Halo's default textures?

We're editing the stock textures to fit with a desert theme. Only issue is our texturer has been mia for about a month now. So until we can replace all of it we'll use stock.

Yah I remember this project too - thought it was on stand-still or something.
Great to see its back up, and even greater to see you changed the theme to something we don't see everyday. Nice one mates.

Uhhh, sky looks fine, and it lights the level great. Though I might replace it with something else later on, while keeping the same lighting settings.

No I edited it so that I could make my E-peen bigger by having a better halo framerate.

Yes it is, my PC is 6 months old and I have no trouble maxing out halo.

I think the Forerunner texture should be darker. I dunno, but I remember seeing a nice, dark Halo 3 Forerunner texture on something (in Halo 3) and I liked it. All the Halo 1 Forerunner stuff looks light, anyway.

Those, along with a lot of other textures are placeholders.

It looks nice. A few shrubs, trees and well placed rocks should finish it off.

How does WoL's High Resolution Halo tags sound for that lol

Small update, me and teh lag added a bunch of nifty effects to the vehicles. For instance the warthog and tank now leave treadmarks, and collision marks on the ground. We're messing with the ghost so that it kicks up sand when it's manned.

I also replaced the dangercanyon ground with a much better placeholder texture. (Thanks disaster)

Other than that there's a few issues with players getting out of the level that arteen found last week that I need to fix.

Activation radius needs to be a bit bigger imo. As for the model, reminds me of the one from 343 GS and Silent Cartographer, except, its elongated at the top. However, it does suit the map.

It was designed to be a cross between those, and the one in halo 3 which is a sort of like this.

And I was thinking the same thing about the activation radius when I made the video lol, notice where I keep stopping thinking it'll open :p
