Hey guys,

Before starting; I made this thread because my previous didnt have the good name, And wasnt really clear. So..

Welcome to my thread abouth my first mini-campaign/SP maps..
Before i start, i want to say this is not a copy/stolen idea from the flood campaign
This map would most probably suck compared to that campaign, but that campaign is still in progress, so this is to keep ur mouths full for a while :)

Abouth the campaign;
ITS MY FIRST, So i need some ideas/tips how to improve :).
Assault the Citadel, get in, and stop the leader of an Elite Clan.
You are a flood unit; Flood helps you.
NO LAGG AT ALL. (Atleast for me)

People Working on the Campaign;

Im looking for 1-2 people wich could help me with the story line, perhaps with a map.
I got the feeling that if worked on properly, this can be a very good mini-campaign. Mail me if interested, or just post here.


Current Occupation; (Underlined is finished!)
Updating Control-Room;

Firing positions.
The noobs standing still, ima get them run to you're position.
Small cutscene.
Add harder enemies, for that also more allies to counter.
Change player biped.
Lower starting ammo.
Perhaps even phantom dropping reinforcements?
Add scarab gun easter egg ftw!

Also, be waiting for more SP maps by me... As the title says, this is just a Trial, and im planning on making alot more SP maps... As im a fan of the flood, you will most certainly ally with them :).

Story-Line Script

The Flood; Recently Released by The Covenant, Contained, then Released again by the UNSC. The flood starts a campaign on the Halo ring, Expanding in knowledge, they try and Take Key position, and start Expanding the already made Brain Form.

Priorities;

-The Control Room (to prevent anyone from activating halo)
-The Silent Carthographer (Map Room; to prevent anyone to learn the location of the control room)
-Truth & Reconcilliation (To expand from the Ring)


Control Room (Blue colored is Trial!)(Red is Unfinished!)
The Floods Top priority is the control room, And the Flood Started Exploiting its location. Covenant was detected, flood immidiatly assaults in close range. After Succesfully Occupying the control room, The Covenant Strikes Back, with an assault. After You've defeated the covenant siege, You march with youre flood allies to a near, Vital area, to prevent any more Covenant attacks.
End mission 1
Specials;
Not Much Flood allies, Flood Wasn't very expanded at that moment.

Halo

The Flood... After a succesfull strike at the control room, they expand as quickly as possible. The Flood Is now Consuming and infecting open areas, such as woods, structures. As the Flood expands, so does their knowledge. The Flood's infecting rage is now at critical level, Encountered Covenant\Human forces are all victims of the Flood. The Flood is Currently at a location where covenant and human are having a huge conflict, which The Flood Join with a hungry Face.
End mission 2

Release

The Flood is in heavy fights, but they need more units to succesfully overun the covenant. The Flood's Secundary Containment cell, is released by the covenant. As you run through the level, you have to release the other flood containment cell, so the flood has additional units to rely on. After you released the flood, 343 Guilty spark noticed that. He sends sentinels to contain you... The sentinels also see the covenant as a threat, because they are ''food'' for the flood. As you fight through the building, you get to the surface... A Fresh supply of flood is released...
End Mission 3

The Silent Carthographer

After The Flood Secured Most of the ring, including the control room, they dont want to let anyone else know the location the control room.. , so they siege the Map Room. The Humans controlled this location, Yet the Covenant Didn't Appreciate that.. A Covenant Capital ship hovered above this location, dropping its finest warriors into battle. Unsc, aswell as Covenant, where suprised by the flood, wich where taking key positions, and eventually taking control of the control room.

The Flood, Has Succesfully Taken charge of the biggest part of the ring, So the Covenant Tries to Evacuate.. One ship was caught, and sieged... Truth & Reconcilliation
End Mission 4



Truth & Reconcilliation

The Flood's Mass is reaching a critical point, they are ready to expand from the ring. Yet they need a ship.. Truth & Reconcilliation is a ship at repair, the flood got the technoligy to repair it, and flee from the ring to other planets. The flood assaults the ship, as the covenant realise that if they fail defending... the flood will become to strong to handle... And take place as a serious threat...
End Mission 5



Bug/Issue Fixes;
-Music! now starts up correctly.
-Spawning! Edited the script, so that not every single grunt has to die, before the next could even possible spawn.
-Level of hardness; Before entering the control room, the fight was a little bit unfair, covenant just crushed flood withouth resistance; Fixed this.

that was kinda akward when the carrier exploded, combats came out it like drop pods(sorta)

omg i played the full one...... ITS AWESOME. i want more out NAO! btw, i have a story idea. ok so your on the 343 spark lvl, and your not the same flood you were when playing other lvls, anyway you and other flood are locked in a holding room, and the coveant unlock YOUR holding room door, you break the door and kill the coveant that broke you out, then you go unlock the rest of the holding rooms for your flood buddies to get out. you escape and take a coveant dropship, and then it could start on that truth and recensiliation lvl

Thats Actually a Very good idea!

Ima try and work that out later on today..

Oh and pakar, this map took me abouth 1 week... i think my next my map will be out in 2 weeks, or in the weekend.
I did not yet decided wich is my next map to make... but im thinking abouth B30 (The Silent Carthographer) Or 343 guilty spark :)

Alright, I've played the level. My advice to you is that you should spend more than a week to make the map. Either that, or don't release it until you're sure it's good.

*AI don't move around. They don't act intelligent. Add some firing positions or something. The elite next to the turret just stood there, while I put a grenade under the turret.
*More imaginative encounters. Around every corner, I saw a bunch of grunts with an elite. Also, the two flood carriers that just fell from the sky didn't really make the level more epic.
*If this is a flood mission, change the player biped. It was disheartening to die and see the Master Chief there.
*Lower the starting ammo. Who in the world carries an assault rifle with 900 bullets, and a pistol with 500? Either change the starting ammo, or make the level harder. I walked by every encounter, not bothering to shoot. They didn't even chase after me.
*Add a cutscene. When I started the level, I started inside a tunnel. I had no idea how I got there. And in the beginning of the level, you have to walk a bit to get to the action. Walking isn't very fun.
*Add allies. Flood don't travel alone. Not even the Master Flood.

If this is the final, then I'm very disappointed. If it's a beta, you must work very hard to get it to a final. If this is an alpha, then I can understand.

-I just rushed through it, had a very busy week...

-I also tried to make a cutscene, it didnt work out very well, might follow a different tutorial xD.

-Abouth the chief biped, It was a combat form at first... but if i got shot, my arms fell off lol. leaving you with no weapon, no melee, nothing :P (In bump possesion atleast, perhaps try changning in globals?)

-Starting ammo, you are right.. Just was a lil bit worried abouth ammo xD.

-AI smartness? I didnt even place firing positions at all, just at the top. As i said i was very busy, And i didnt actually think of placing them... didnt know they do much, but i'll fix that.

-STFU bouth flood carriers, they p0wn xD

-Beta or alpha? heck i dont even know what alpha means. This is kind of a beta... I was hoping on comments like this, to improve.

- This is my very first SP level, also my very first time attempting a script. I learned alot of this SP map.

Abouth my imagination, i cant think of more then just a bunch of grunts and a elite, seriously, there aren't much actors to choose from, is there? if i put a hunter on every corner, would that be more fun? i dont think so :P

Maybe a councillor! you have to shoot several clips in him before his shields are even down :P.

If you got an idea of different encounters, that would be fun :D

Alpha is a pre-beta. Usually people don't release those, because at the time of an alpha, the level still sucks. And if you rushed through it, you shouldn't release it. Give it to private testers before you give it to everyone. Releasing a bad alpha usually hurts your chances of getting many people to download the final. As for ideas for encounters, don't just put grunts and elites. Add some different units. If you don't have many to choose from, then make your own actor varients. And add some allies. The flood don't travel alone.

The problem on this map, was that the tunnels you go through, aren't reachable for flood. not gameplay wise, but technically. The AI just wont go trough, they just stand before it. That was a major issue i posted before, all answers didn't work.

Also a major issue is, i get no post for this. I need comments like yours to improve..

I've had this map tested by friends, they found it awsome. Yet, they know nothing of scripting/mapping, so i guess it doesnt count.

But yet, if you comment my maps, there will always be errors. You are very critical (but very helpfull-critical) And you know how to make such things :S.

But okay, ima improve this map..

I just wanted to show people what i've done so far, and see what the comments are. Yet i get no comments exept yours till now lol :P.

Exept the awsomeness guy, but he thinks its awsome how its now xD

Criticism that attacks the map, while providing a reason, is usually the most helpful. I've received a lot of those before, and it's forced me to learn more about scripting.

Ya i dont mind criticism, its very helpfull.

To bad the criticism only comes from 1 person, and thats always you. i dont mean this in the way that youre a noob-who-knows-better, i mean this in a way that no one else every bothers to post things like this.

I appreciate Criticism.

What i NOT appreciate is that i got abouth 80 downloads total, and abouth 5 comments. I made this thread mainly because i wanted criticism

(i tried once but gmax sucked and i lost interest because of an Xbox, and will probably lose intrest again)

I already knew alot of stuff, but enver tried scripting before :P

I planned to have these wield energy swords... but all my attempts phaild, so i just made them use elite dialogues, gave em abit more HP...

Just cant get em wield energy swords :P

Heres a tip for you, most people will flip if its un-canonical. So, I would suggest getting rid of the Flood commanders, and just making the carriers spew more infection forms, or even add a shielded varient.
