To everyone wondering what happened to the community mod, all I have to say is one word: renewal. The mod is back in business and I'm preparing to show you the big update I promised a long time ago. Although this update lacks a video (mainly because I'm too time-consumed with other stuff), it has plenty of new stuff that I will explain. I hope you find things interesting. I also would like to announce that the mod is getting down to its final stages, with only the levels needing a bit more diversity and me finding a new sky for The Maw. I am also requesting help on vehicles, such as the Banshee and Covenant Ghost (new looking ghost that is as simple as the original in damage counter). Subjects will be divided into categories. I hope you enjoy the update!

The Longtime Debate: AR or SMG?
Throughout the time I was planning the mod, I was wondering if the SMG should be added. I eventually came to several opinions over it:
-It was there for more variety.
-It wasn't really separate from the AR's automatic abilities.
-An SMG isn't really supposed to be as strong as people make it.
So I came to the conclusion that the SMG is unecessary in the mod, mainly due to something else taking its occupation: A BETTER ASSAULT RIFLE. I have finally picked out an AR for the mod. If anyone here remembers the AR that ICEE made, then you know the weapon has an attached GL and is considerably balanced. Well I've tested the weapon and it is considerably useful against the enemies in the game. It is also a considerably good alternative compared to the SMG.



AR modifications made by ICEE and skins made by CMT.

Now I'm sure you're wondering why THIS AR. When I started the mod, I wanted to make something for the community, but also by the community, seeing community tags in the original Halo SP mod. I wanted to keep the base of having tags that people could access throughout the community in the mod. However, this question will be answered later, as there is more to see.

Major Battles? Larger Encounters?
The Answer is YES. Newer and larger encounters will ensue throughout the mod where we would have liked them to be. Although to an extent, you may find the mod to be more consuming and fun than before; you'll be able to play AotCR longer than before. Hoever, this does not mean a lot of encounters with Flood will be larger, mainly because they are large to begin with. Some areas will receive attention though, but most large encounters will be encounters will Covenant as the only enemy.

A big battle you fight in Two Betrayals. It is a small force of Ultras fighting a mob of Flood. It may not sound big, but it is in all respects. Also, after the Flood arrive, you'll see more Majors and Ultras than Minors. Good luck.

A common medium battle you fight on AotCR, but with the ODSTs backing you up, you'll have plenty of help to make it fun. And yes, Grunts with Needlers and Plasma Pistols can hurt...badly.
Your squad of ODSTs during AotCR. They are very useful and good soldiers, especially if armed with rockets or ARs.

Weapons/Vehicles of All
UNSC:
-Ma5d_gl Assault Rifle (Has an attached GL and fires automaticly accurate shots at a moderate rate. An all around good weapon.); Credit goes to ICEE for original tagging and GL attachment. Original Model is Bungie's. Skin is CMT's.
-Halo2 Battle Rifle (Fires three-round bursts and can give headshots); Credit goes to Bungie for model and skin. Anims are Hayabusa's.
-Ma5k (fires 8-11 rounds a second); Credit for original tag (model, skin, anims) goes to CMT. Credit for modifications go to me.

-Halo2 Magnum (semi-automatic can perform headshots and fire fast); Credit goes to Bungie from Halo2 and those who ripped the model and skin. Anims are undetermined.
-Rocket Launcher (fires rockets that fly somewhat faster); Credit for skin goes to Tazz. Model and Animations are unknown.

-Rapid-fire M90 Shotgun (fires semi-automaticly and rate of fire is determined by user); Credit for original model goes to Bungie. Model Mods and skin by Tazz and Jackle(?). Other tag mods by me.
-Flamethrower (A flamethrower. Very powerful verse everything but sentinels and vehicles. Can set off explosives.); Credit for model, anims, and skin goes to Bungie. Credit for fire goes to Andrew_b. Credit for other mods goes to me.
-Frag Grenade (frag grenade); Credit goes to Bungie.
-Human Turret (Human turret machine gun); Credit goes to Se7en Numbers.

-H2 LAAG Warthog (H2 MAchine gun Turret Warthog); Credit goes to Se7en Numbers.

-Rocket Warthog (Warthog with Rocket Turret); Credit goes to Arteen.

-Scorpion (Scorpion tank); Credit goes to unknown

Covenant:
-H2 Plasma Rifle (Fires like an H2 PR); Credit goes to Hayabusa for anims. Model is by Bungie. Skin is by unknown.

-Green Plasma Rifle (Fires Plasma Pistol bolts, primarily for jackals. It's green.); Credit goes to Hayabusa for anims. Model by Bungie. Skin Mod is by unknown. Idea for Jackals by CMT and the fact that I like Green Plasma Rifles.) Still a WIP.

-Fire Plasma Rifle (Fires red, burning bolts of plasma at the enemy. It's red with singed "back-fins"); Credit for Skin, Model, and particles is by unknown. Idea for firey plasma rifle goes to me.

-Covenant Carbine (Fires bolts capable of headshots at good accuracy.); Credit for model goes to Bungie. Credit for ripping and anims go to Zteam. Credit for the projectile is by unknown. Tag compiling by me.

-Plasma Pistol (Fires standard plasma pistol bolts, however, these bolts can now perform headshots. Can still be overcharged); Credit for Model, Anims, and skin go to Bungie. Other Mods by me till further notice.
-Fuel Rod Gun (Fires homing, green plasma missiles. Counterpart of the Rocket Launcher. H2 Styled.); Credit goes to the creators of the Flak Cannon in Extinction. Credit for other mods goes to me.
-H3-styled needler (H3 Styled Needler); Credit for crosshair goes to Advancebo. Model, Anims, and Skin goes to Bungie. Credit of mods go to me.

-Energy Sword (The Classic Energy Sword used by elites. Not wieldable yet and still under review.); Credit goes to Bungie so far.
-Heavy Needler (A very powerful needler used by specops grunts. Does heavy damage to shielding and health and even to vehicles.); Credit goes to unknown.
-Plasma Grenade (Plasma Grenade, but has new sound and explodes on a later timing. Looking for an H3 effect.); Credit goes to Bungie so far. Credit of other mods go to me.
-Covenant Ghost (Covenant Ghost); Still being determined.


What is marked down so far. Credit goes to apparently CMT.
-Covenant Banshee (Covenant Banshee); Still being determined.
-Covenant Wraith (H2 Wraith); Credit goes to anonymous.

What the wraith is for the mod. Reticle WILL be changed. Hopefully so will the effects of the mortar and guns.
-Shade Turret (H2 Turret and Standard Turret fire dropship shots.); Credit goes to Bungie and to a source of ripping.

Forerunner:
-Sentinel Beam (Fires the sentinel beam); Credit is unknown so far. Most likely will move to H2 model and Zteam modifications.

Bipeds Discussion
-All new bipeds are rigged ripped H2 bipeds by Hdoan. Credit for models, skins, and presumably animations are by Bungie.
-Et tu Brute? No. Brutes will not be added in the mod until further notice. This decision also removes the spiker and brute shot or any other Brute-exclusive items.
-Elite Variations: There are many types of elites with specific purposes, such as carbine users or specops elites. Yes, there are Ultras and yes, they do kick serious ass.
-Other variations: There are the other variations as well, such as that of specops grunts and jackals. There is not a grunt gunner variation as of now, nor Jackal Beamer variation. There are however, the standard H2 variations you see.
-Grunts are the normal bipeds from Bungie as of now. I hope this will eventually change. Jackals are mixed variations of Halo1 and Halo2 bipeds.
-New Flood bipeds needed. Possibly Juggernauts to be added.
-Hunters are badasses now and can be enjoyable to play. Those with blue bolts can destroy in nearly one hit and those with Spectre beams hurt when they hit. Colors haven't changed though. Working on colored hunters soon.
-A Master Chief biped is still in the works. FP arms are credited to H2T as of now.



Credit of MC biped goes to Se7en Numbers.

New Skies and Weather
I have added and changed weather effects and skies of some levels. You'll notice them when you see them. You'll so far be rained on, snowed on, sunned on, and nothinged on. The levels are interesting now, but it is becoming hard to find a new sky for The Maw. If you can find a sky that gives you the thought that everything is coming to an end, please tell me ASAP. Thansk for any help.

Item Distribution
-You will find more items, objects, and scenery in new or different places now. I want to keep this more of a surprise now, so no pics on this part.

The Mind's Interpretation of a Level
-Like some of you may know, I like to make things seem dramatic and make levels have more emotional value to them; get players to feel something while playing. So I've added some new stuff to atmospheres that I think will help create this new effect. I'll keep you posted on this later. However, some levels already accomplish this (PoA, The Maw, Library, and 343 Guilty Spark). I'll keep you posted on new stuff here as well.

Ending Summary
The mod is getting very close to completion, with more of the levels needing more newer settings and assets. The weapons list is made so far, so no need to worry about weapons anymore. Now, it's just for effects and newer stuff in addition. I'll let everyone know progress on the mod as time goes by and I'm glad I finally got around to making this humongous update.

-BSPs are Bungie's (but you should know this from the beginning; if not, you're clueless. If you're just being picky about credit, well that's just your problem.)
-AR crosshair is CMT's. Needler crosshair Ma5k crosshair is Bo's. Half of the other crosshairs are originals or rips most likely. Some still unknown. AR ammo meter is from Overgrown (accidentally, forgot to change the Hud to normal.lol.) Hud Layout is Bungie's.

That's not zteams(our) carbine. If you do use our content in this mod, you don't have permission to distribute the tags. You can however release them in a protected map. Either way, old content is old.

The larger encounters don't get me excited, just having huge ordinary halo battles won't cut it anymore. Set up big vehicle battles, and use AI Warthogs and AI Scorpions.

The mod is simply something that I wanted to make for the community, but wanted to see what it'd be like by community tags. It's inspired by the community.

Don't worry about larger battles; they're being taken care nicely. I'll probably have to revert back to the normal ghosts and banshees till I find good ones though, so that there aren't a bunch of unwrecked vehicles everywhere. You'll also enjoy the standard Halo encounters AND large scale foot encounters as well. No need to worry about balance and fun factor neither; it's all being taken care of.

Yes Choked, that is the Zteam Carbine. I will protect it in the mod, as well as other weapons that some people don't want distributed throughout the community.

I also forgot to mention that the new weapons and AI setup will be enjoyable. They compliment each other very well. Also, Lodex, the reason why it has various tags is because it's a Community Mod; a mod made for, by, and with the community. I'm not just saying this neither; this is how I had always planned for it to be. If you want more originality, my next project may have that for you.

If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me.

I like the reticle. It fits the AR and is staying. Your Super Elite is in there. *hush hush about Gladiator for now*

Are you joking me? So much of it is credited. I never leave out my credits. Everything in those pics has been credited to someone else, name or not. Tell me what has and hasn't been credited ASAP if I missed anything.

*Oh yeah, I also should mention this was the major update from forever ago, so there were many threads before it with updates. The sad part is that the other forum I used was closed down and that the previous topic here has been lost in 30 pages of other topics.

Marking something as unkown doesn't mean your giving credit.

You shouldn't even be using something if you don't know who made it, and just assuming that because someone else didn't credit it, it's alright for you too also use it without asking.

Ask Hayabusa yourself. He did those Animations. He gave me all of his WIP anim GIFs. Zteam rips Halo2, but so do many others.

Thanks for the credit about the Biped and Turret, although for a while I was told it was Jahrain who did the biped.

How else would I mark credit then? If it IS open sourced, then I presume it was meant like that. If I don't know who made it, then I'll mark it as unknown for the sake of someone else doing is and not myself doing it, like many people have jumped on others for.

Sorry, but if anyone wants me to remove an item they don't want there that is theirs, please tell me.

I have no clue who he is. It's your mod, you make him responsible for explaining himself if he's ripping from Zteam. Most maps from back in the day have no protection because there was no HEK+ when they were made, that's no excuse to take from them. And if you are, name the map that they came from.

You seem more concerned of doing a "cool" mod than you are of how you're doing it.

um not after making any enemies but i did animate that old br. you can compare zteams and that br and you'll see a big difference. you can even ask ICEE, i can make really good replicas of animations

I don't know exactly why you get that impression of me wanting to make JUST a cool mod. What I've said so far is correct about the community mod; FOR THE COMMUNITY. I'll give credit where I can. If I can't get names for some items, which I hope never comes to, then I'll post something in the credits regarding that.

I'm doing my mod fine. It's the standard procedure used when modding maps; take out old tags and put in new tags. Just because some of my credit was given to unknowns doesn't mean I'm a conniving thief. Back off Masters. Every post I make is always followed suit by a negative or impatient comment by you. I'm not a lier and know that I need to give credit to others. At least I made an attempt to credit other people instead of half of the other mods out there. This was an update too, not a release thread. If the owner of my other forums and the thread earlier here didn't go away, then I would have linked you to them.

Thanks for the support, Doan and Hayabusa. And sorry Masters if I seem a bit ill-tempered right now. I get touchy when it comes to people making accusations.

He did apologize. Sorry, but this type of mod is generally frowned upon by senior members. People have been ripping tags and throwing them into maps since hek+ was released, hell even since the pc days. People would rather see new content than recycled overused old content, they don't care if you try and justify it by saying it was inspired by the community. No offense, it's just the way things are around here.

Around Senior Members, yes. The purpose of this project was to recycle and use tags from the community or donations given by members of the community. That is the point of this mod. Don't worry: some content, like yours and others', will be selectively protected. I'm using what I found throughout maps that people don't take into consideration that much. This project was originally dubbed "Crossmod," where I fished in tags and fixed them up to put in the original Halo SP Campaign. Considering those tags became dinky and it all pointed towards the community, I changed the "Crossmod" to "Community Mod." This is all also an SP to add to the small amount of SP levels we have around. After this mod, I'll work on another, far more original SP project, once again involving the collaboration of community works (BSPs and released tags only).

Yeah, I'd really like to get new flood involved. Floyd's been away for a while though, so we haven't gotten around to it. I can't do it myself because my computer is neglecting 3d modeling programs.

Well, they are pretty cool.
When someone "customly modifies" something, it makes it really awesome.
Like Drivable setinels, setinel turrets, stuff like that.

Edit: Oh waits I see it. I was talking about credits for the Phantom, now I see it. DarkHalo, add those old credits to First Post.

Anyway, I can try to make it anew, but I needs 3ds Max again. Including Photoshop.

I just got a new computer and both of them dont work anymore. I dont have the keys anymore so I can only use trial.

Oh well.

nice map :D im correctly working on powering up the AI and grunts are using needle blasters (a mod of fuel rod which is a bit stronger and spawns 5 super needles) still working on a flame sword and bouncing mod of the human weapons for some fun.

I like to use the excuse: The gun can detect when the magazine is taken out. If you actually look at Halo 3's AR/BR reload, the bolt moves before the magazine is even touched. If you don't like my excuse though, use ICEE's, he claims it's Magic.

icee must love you lol. one thing i would love to see is the ability to kill a hunter in one shot removed. just go into the collison geometry, scroll down to materials, find the orange worms material, and uncheck the box that says head.
