Hud is barely visible outside, only in dark areas.

How are you guys preventing people from going outside the main fighting area? I could imagine that being a tumultuous task with the limited opeions the original BLAM! engine provides.

1.clip the areas of.
2.place mines like the original sandtrap.
3.make triggers around the area that your not supposed to enter, and script the player to instantly kill the player.

Though for more "accuracy" i would do option 2

what are you talking about, proximity mines are totally possible in CE...

Also, have you guys considered AI turrets to stop you from going outside the map? That takes care of banshees too, and it doesn't have to sync because they are going to die anyways, and it would still look somewhat better than have a kill-wall, and there wouldn't be shots coming out of nowhere because the turrets don't move.

Banshees wont matter since they have to keep moving, and they can only aim in on direction.

I really love the sky, im glad you took out the sandy type one...

that's the sky you'll be using entirely right?

oh, and nice HUD as well
can't wait til it's released.

i dont like the sky cuz its just the blood gulch sky and if it were me id keep it closer to the original sandtrap

It's not the bloodgulch sky, there's a giant planet that i spy with my eye...

But it'll still lag the server a lot.

Not just like 5 long-ranged turrets. Like snowbound, but sniper variants.

Hud is barely visible outside, only in dark areas.
I am highly opinionated on this issue because in a previous life I designed LED & LCD display modules used in the HUDs for the automotive industry. Rule number 1, and all other rules started at around 99, was never, ever, and I mean never under penalty of your worse nightmare, obscure the peripheral view of the driver. There is no other rule in HUD design that is more important.

The reason is that in the human field of vision we have better acuity in the peripheral range than we do in looking straight ahead. Anything that even partially obscures that area cuts perception exponentially. In the real world it is just unacceptable design to shade, narrow or obscure the field of view as that outline does.

Like I said its barely visible on the exterior of the map, just like in halo 3 unless you scan the screen for it, you wont see it. Those pictures were taken in a dark area to show off the visor.

In HUD design that is like being a little pregnant.

Well my goal here is to do as best as a halo 3 replica as I can, so removing the visor is out of the question, if it really urks anyone that much they can remove it themselves when I release this map. Or if enough people suggest I remove the visor, I could make a button that toggels it on and off...
