I'm getting REALLY sick of all these half assed projects, where people are happy to call them "done" when they still have major issues and problems.
Most notably this Halo 3 content, ranging from more grenade types, that "elephant" bubble shields, aand grav lifts. This can also be applied to maps, which are half of a base and then a box.
So here's a rule that I live by.
IF YOU CAN'T DO IT WELL, THEN DON'T DO IT AT ALL

that is to say people shouldn't post incomplete work hoping to learn from the advice other forum goers give, or to ask questions, but make sure your work is really done before you say it is. Edited by iron clad on May 26, 2008 at 02:12 PM

My god some of you are daft. I never said don't try to learn, I said don't attempt projects if you're only going to go halfway, or are forced to go halfway. No where did I say that you "shouldn't try" to do good.

Yeah, in case you didn't notice, there are OTHER words above it, so don't try to make me look like a fool by taking things I say out of context.
I'm saying if you are trying to do something that won't ever work righ tin the game, or you have no intent on finishing, then don't do it at all.

Nice to see you to Salminader, and it apears your brain still hasn't developed the ability to process information.
GOD forbid someone comes out and says they are sick of people releasing unfinished projects and saying they're done, or starting something that can't be completely finished and when they realize it, they release it anyway.
I find it actually qute funny you diagree with me here, seeing as how you often say you don't release your projects because they're not good enough or done.
Next time pick the side of an argument you're actually on, rather than whatever yea rold grudge you're still holding.

Wow what a spam thread. This will get deleted soon enough. And actually I kind of agree both ways. Yes it isn't right to release half-assed works but to them they seem done. You have to look on both sides before you can pick a side.

Who gives a **** if a project isn't finished/well done. Your basically saying "If your not going to finish/do a good job on a project, then just say screw it and don't get any practice".
You know the only way people are going to learn is by doing, plain and simple. Oh yeh, theres no rule forcing you to download a bad map. Nao lock this flamefest :D Edited by __napalm__ on May 26, 2008 at 03:09 PM

Although, I sort of agree with Masters in the fact that I don't think people should post unfinished/rehashed maps/mods. I don't think telling someone not to try is a real dick move, I'm learning this **** as I go and I think it's great for people to be ambitious when they have a community such as Halomaps here to help.

I agree, but of all the mods I make, only 4% of them generally go out for public distribution, I mostly keep them to a few friends.

Nao lock this flamefest :D Edited by __napalm__ on May 26, 2008 at 03:09 PM I'm glad that you can tell what Masters is saying for him, since he obviously can't for himself. Why don't you read a post or two? Masters made a point that he never said anything about practicing. Also, let's use your logic here for a second. Masters was saying if a project isn't going to work out well, then don't do it. Well, let's take chains' elephant for example. It doesn't work... really at all. At least not in ce. Well, what did he learn from making that mistake? Oh, maybe it's that he WASTED HIS TIME making something that would never work and he could have saved himself the trouble. Sounds to me like Masters was trying to help, good argument man.

age has nothing to do with it, in fact i have just recently started talking to a 6th grader whose work is impressive compared to alot of the stuff i see here. what we are talking about here is released projects. a box with random vehicles and guns thrown in is not a completed project. most of the guns has terrible errors that make them hideous. whoever thought he meant that people shouldn't try, use your head. hes saying hes sick of released projects that aren't complete. think for a second instead of arguing with masters becuase you have a problem with him. practice all you want, make as many box maps as you want, thats not what masters means. hes saying that hes sick of seeing every single one released.

I am tired of people thinking all 12 year olds are immature. Most are, but some aren't. I try as hard as I can not to be, as some of the other 15 and 16 year olds do. We're all humans, you do realize.
