Happy 9 years SPV1! Funny watching this, there is one thing in we did there where we are doing it identically in SPV3. See if you can guess which it is.

You've always been able to blow them up, but I guess that makes 2 things that have carried over. No friendly spartans though.

We are still looking for high-poly modellers to help us finish up some assets, mainly weapons, bipeds and organics.
If you think you can help us out, then don't hesitate to get in touch with us through the usual channels!

SPV3 can never be non-os, there are simply to many gameplay critical features that use it.

What OS-enchanced gameplay features does SPv3 need to rely on besides the obvious ones?

There are some which we could always remove, that are really awesome, but not essential (ai transformations, gravity grenades), but there are other things such as our scripting system for things such as the vehicle health system, and the AAs. The prior one being essential. You also have things going on with the battery drain on the PP, BR behavior, being able to have the grenade launchers get more ammo which won't be possible without our script system.

Hey i just had some input I thought I'd share. Its about a30. So i realize that spv1,2,3 are meant to be different from the original. A new fresh experience. I get that. But when i played a30 beta spv2 i really missed the clear starry sky from the original. I missed the obviousness of the halo sweeping up through the sky. For me the alpine environment(grass, trees, granite cliffs) combined with the way the sun looked and the stars/halo/huge planet left me with a really "spacey" (for lack of a better word) feeling. I know a big reason for the way it looked was because of how dated the game is, but i really liked it. Its as if there was almost zero atmosphere, Like you were on land and out in space at the same time. Ok so whats is my point? I think this was a really strong point for the feel of the level and I'd love to see it back in spv3. Now maybe 99% of people liked the overcast feel of spv1,2 and maybe you guys have something really great up your sleeve for a30, I don't know. If you guys could figure out a way to recapture this feel with a more polished spv3 look i think that world be awesome. Now weather you guys are happy with what you've got or are still open to new ideas about this(I doubt this is a new idea) I'm really grateful for all the CMT has done. You guys do awesome work.

Cheers

In an afterthought I do realize the overcast skies in spv2 a30 provide a smooth transition to the snow in T&R spv3 so I’m wondering if that is going to impact how a30 spv3 will look as far as the weather goes. I realize these kinds of details are important. Why would it be clear as a bell in a30 then all the sudden snowing in T&R; although we do find out later in assault on the control room that halo's climate control is malfunctioning; anyway it’s a tough call. I did really like the snow in T&R but if it comes at the cost of the clear starry night on a30, personally I'd take the clear starry night on a30. It was just such a pillar of strength for the feel of that level that I'd like to see that highlighted rather than replaced. It seems to me there are plenty of ways that certain things don't quite line up in this game. Like how you descend below sea level at the end of TSC and then you pop out into a snow filled canyons shortly after in assault on the control room. Basically I think when it comes to halo; what each level brings to the table in diversity is more important than having all the levels seamlessly transition. Again many thanks to you cmt guys.

We are still going with the overcast look we have had, although I think it looks very nice and suits the level.

Quite the impressive job you have there, well done indeed.

Anyways, what release can we expect next?

I don't get it, all you have to do is make the sky bitmap the same solid color as the fog. I did this years ago.

Didn't Gearbox basically strip a load of effects out of the game to get it to run better on PCs of the day?
I distinctly remember Combat Evolved running like a freaking potato on my old system. Console ports man, I swear :P

I know, but you managed to fix the fog effect everywhere?

No, but I was able to fix that ugly seem at the top, which is really the worst part of the broken fog.

-Masters1337 I just watched the spv3 section of CE3 2014 and saw a quick snippet of a30. Your sky looked great, well everything looked great! Please disregard everything I said earlier about “my input on a30.” In fact I’m sure you disregarded it the moment you read it because your sky looks awesome. Anyway I had to tell you myself. I am floored at what’s possible in the halo engine with OS. I wish there was some way I could help or contribute, but I doubt there is. What the CMT crew is doing with spv3 is absolutely phenomenal. I highly anticipate the release of spv3.

What you see with a30 really has nothing to do with OS, that's all just good textures, shaders, and sky settings. In the footage you'll see tomorrow at CE3 kill see the new post processed bloom settings, but 95% of our environments are not using OS enhancements, just the scenery.

Well that was cool, SPv3 seems great and I'm glad you guys decided to take your time to make this project, it's not a race afterall, it just needs to release one day, the quality will only be better if you take time to do what you want :)

I will say this; you guys are absolutely amazing, and will be adored by many for these excellent maps.

I do have a question though, where's the other half of the campaign?

The other half of the campaign is still a while out. We're concentrating on getting Part 1 feature-complete and as polished as we can make it.

There's a number of new things we need to implement for Part 2, including new bipeds, weapons and a couple of gameplay mechanics, as well as an overall graphical spit-and-polish to bring it up to spec with the rest of the mod, so that all needs to be done, along with the necessary gameplay rebalancing and making sure we don't kill the engine :P

So if you can imagine the sort of time that takes, you should have a rough idea of how long!

I know that all too well, taking into consideration how long my project is taking, and it's made even more time-consuming since I'm the only one working on this. :P

The technical problems amplify this even further, although...your project goes beyond the capability a one-man project could have in terms of the fans' desire for a close release date.

As I was watching the CE3 2015 footage for spv3 Silent Cartographer(non evolved) it seemed to me the rocks on the beach were pretty shiny, almost metallic looking. Was this just me or anyone else agree? It was the only thing I did not like the look of. Almost looks like blobs of metal on the beach.

I know this is a WIP so i'm guessing this is still on the to do list.
This is meant to be constructive, not trying to complain here.
