People should make maps in a more modern way. Stick them in sculpting programs to add all fine details, which allows you to make extremely realistic cliffs ect... then bake normals ect in max...

I would import it into ZBrush if all I did was sit at my computer all day, lol.

You dont need to spend days and day on it... I model things and I have a life. Not done anything for ages as I work security now.

I mean, I used to care about this stuff, but i realized that in the end, none of this means anything other than fun. I do this to have fun and i think that it's a common misconception here in these forums that people shouldn't do something a certain way because it's not what the "professionals" do. I know how to sub divide model, i understand the concepts of baking, but it isn't necessary if all you want out of making a map is fun.

Duuude, I would love to play that online. You might want to add some smoothing groups to round areas though. Pretty blocky looking. And yeah, definitely work on the textures.

But yeah, looks promising.

I had a design for a map floating around for 2 years, figured i'd finish it for CE3, but that didn't work out. *Note* I haven't touched max for a year, haha. Thoughts?

That looks amazing O_O!

If you could refine this a bit and get it working with the default CE flamethrower animations, it'd definitely come in handy.

It doesn't really fit the default CE anims. I've tried over a year ago, but the top handle always blocks everything on the model (basically, on default anims, the top handle will block the entire flamethrower, so you only see the top handle).

What about third person? That's what I'm more concerned with; the Spartan in his screenshot has a broken arm.

Variables that transfer between maps! I'm thinking of making a kind of a RPG experience. You earn points in maps, then come back to the hub map to buy new maps, gametypes, and weapons. I'm thinking of adding some specops maps in too, to parallel Halo 4's spartan ops mode.

Once again, thanks to Kirby422 for helping me figure this out (well actually, he figured it out without me, I just implemented it >>)

Updates on the elite map\tags that I've been working on. I'm going to be using M6dEEp and DSalimander's Map, Lobby Reloaded, which was originally based on concept designs for Ivory Tower.

Some eye candy.

Could you clean things up a bit?, I personally always found the environment Ivory Tower to be a bit grungy

Continuing the cleanup of Toten. Most of the changes from the original are in the back half of the bsp. Trying to add some outdoor flavor to the mix.

"Lobby Reloaded is a reimagination of Lobby, which is based off of concept art for Halo 2's Ivory Tower. More specifically:

These "Lobby" levels were designed soley by M6dEEp (with due credit to the concept artist). The first Lobby (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2868) was done entirely by M6dEEp, and I only beta tested it. Lobby Reloaded was modeled and UV'd by M6dEEp, but the ultimate task of getting it into Halo CE fell uppon me. Currently, the level is strikingly similar to my Ivory Tower (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=5204) because of all the placeholder tags that were conveiently at hand. I planned on giving all the shaders a unique twist that complemented the fresh style of the map and thus could hold more true to the ideas M6dEEp had (http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=30343&start=2556) (note the textures). I can't say the desired textures are custom, they aren't. They were borrowed from Unreal Tournament 2003, a game which me and M6dEEp were very fond of. You may notice a lot of UV errors, incorrect IDs, retarded lighting, missing glass, and other common errors associated with incomplete maps. I know they exist and they should be addressed eventually. The main holdback was the lack of texture artists, since I desperately needed one. Because of time constraints and other reasons, I can only do so much to this level. The task of getting it polished and such will fall on Jesse, since he desires a map to demonstrate his H2 Elites. Jesse has done a lot for me, and I have done plenty for him. I think H2 Elites would be complementary to the level, so permission to do whatever with the unfinished level is granted... to him. Oh, and what's up Halomaps?" -DSalimander
