To rip a .max model from a scenery object:
Find the scenery object. Find the .gbxmodel tag that it references. Download TheGhost's GBXModel Extractor. Extract the model from the gbxmodel. Import the model into 3ds Max, and, if necessary, rotate it. There you go, done.
