Update, this picture is a few days old, but it'll do.

This image was taken from an intro cutscene that I scripted.
Most work is now being done on things such as scripting, music, changing the tagset, and starting to do firefight encounters and animations. Keep your fingers crossed for this.

idk if you already said this but will the encounters use dropships, grav-lifts, or both?

The encounters will, in their most basic form, be made up of 3 parts:

1. Grav-Lift Drop Covenant.
2. Spirit Dropship Covenant (From 3 Drop Places).
3. Sentinels coming out of the 3 tubes.

IDK whether to ally the Sentinels with the Covenant or not yet.
Also, there can be called-in troop drops in varying package deals. More on that later.

Yeah Mooose, I've noticed you always have interesting lighting in your map, such as the red and blue bases on PitfaIl, and now this purple and green stuff :D

Lol, anyways guys, before I start digging into the core gameplay in my scripts, I need to know what styles of firefight you want in this map. I can mix and match elements if needed.

Do you want a B40-Firefight style with elements of Firefight Portent?
Or do you want a wave-by wave system, i.e. Solitude?

Or just tell me if you have a completely different idea, I would love to make sure the community enjoys this map.

I would like to see some kind of new mechanic to waves. I don't know if it is possible. anyways, maybe try waves being a set time, during this time the enemies should be forever respawning, however there should only be say 20 AI spawned at one time. when a enemy dies, another should spawn to take his place. when the wave time limit is reached, the enemies stop respawning, and you have to kill the remaining forces. when you have done that, the next wave should start.

Any more ideas?
I want to make this as enjoyable as possible, while still including dropships.

OK, so what I'm getting from you guys (and my ideas) are:

1. Timed rounds with enemy reinforcements.
2. Gamma's Point store system.
3. Halo 2 Style Enemies.
4. Buy friendly support packages.
5. Sentinels allied with covenant.
6. Fun Rounds.
7. Infinite Round Cycle. (I.E. Solitude).

Is that what you guys are going for? I'm not sure if I should do #5, and I am still not clarified if I should do infinite random rounds like B40-Firefight, or round set loops like Solitude...

Once I can make these important descisions, I can start getting to the real meat of my firefight map.

The idea is to let the player use human and covenant weapons (and sentinel), BUT all weapons will be deleted after each round, with a bonus human weapon spawning every round.
I'm also thinking of doing 5 types of "fun"/bonus rounds, at intervals in between every 5 rounds. I already have a few ideas in mind.
So, later in the next couple of days, I am going to start placing encounters based on the Solitude format, with Ninami's idea of reinforcement fill-in during alotted time.
Gamma will have to put it into play with scripting, though. That part is a bit over my head.

Peace.

Have the sentinels either ally you or have it as a three way battle. That'll make a lot of the oldies happy.

Final list of things to use for Firefight-Descent:

--1. Gamma's point system to purchase friendly packages and other things.
--2. Timed rounds, 10 rounds per set, 1 fun/bonus round per 10 waves.
--3. Enemies will fill in for killed ones during the round time, and the round will end when the timer is up and all enemies have been killed.
--4. Halo 2 weapons, vehicles, and enemies (hopefully with upgraded shaders later on).
--5. Enemies will be covenant from the grav-lift, dropships (to be animated by Shade117), and upper turrets, and sentinels from the tubes.
--6. Bonus weapon after every round, all other weapons, decals, and bodies to be cleared after every round.
--7. Checkpoint after every 5 rounds.
--8. Holo panel dedicated to ending the game.

Let's get this baby rolling!

Please, if anyone wants to help with some of the more advanced scripting, PM me.

I wouldn't do the timed checkpoint thing, otherwise you might end up saving right as a plasma grenade sticks the player, or some other bad situation. I would put saving in the pause menu like Gamma did, but don't make it cost money to save.
