Is anyone up to the task of fixing the spi model to have non-ugly hands and smoother shoulders/hip areas? Also, I just went through and unwrapped everything in the map except the cliffs, so that the walls and other things blend much better, as well as a few other tweaks to the texturing of the map. Before I do the cliffs, is there any better textures I could pssibly use for them? BTW, nice rocks Dee Edited by MoooseGuy on Sep 11, 2010 at 05:10 PM

ROCKS Edited by DEEhunter on Sep 10, 2010 at 08:03 PM ROCKS For the rocks I made I used a combination of: FormSoft ClayTubes hPolish Surface Noise I started out with a simple zsphere shape, did a random, bulky Zsketch on it, and used the claytubes and form soft to create a few of the primary extruded shapes from the blob. I used the hPolish tool with high pressure to create the more hard shapes, and them used the same brush with low pressure to smoothen out the areas in between the groups of hard edges. I used the form soft tool again to dig into the areas between the extrudes. Mask the same areas, use a largely scaled surface noise, then surface noise the entire thing again for some micro details.

I pretty much followed it off of the ZClassroom tutorial I found about a month ago. I used: ZSphere ClayTubes Planar Brush w/ Alpha 08 Surface Noise I pretty much did what you said, but I only did the surface noise once, and no masking. It was just something I made in 10 minutes just to show off :P. That's why its a clumsy, very sloppy piece of work. Edited by AGLion on Sep 12, 2010 at 11:53 AM boom, worked more on the edges. problem though: can't apply the noise to the mesh otherwise it will become completely and utterly EFFED up. Another UPDATE on my bsp......Cuz you can never get enough Improvements made since last update:Shaders perfected. Green strips light toned down a hair. Everything is unwrapped, meaning the walls and everything flow together smoothly now. Smoothing groups applied to way more polygons, for even light distribution. Weather effects added (a light rain). Exactportals placed (some need to be fixed). Textures straightened in all areas (ex: the green halls have better metal UV'ing). Steam and smoke effects added to HEV pod. Circle-like structure now has holo panel and structure scenery inside. Trigger volumes for "Return to the battlefield" messages. Scenery placed, barriers placed for buying. Turrets placed for enemies. Things to still do:Portal the map. Get a better cliff texture. Unwrap the cliffs. Fix the exactportals. Put in the background music (have I got a treat for you). Add a fourth line to the "Return to the battlefield" text sequence. Give to Gamma to start scripting the level. Here's a video, for y'all attention-to-detail people. http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=25r09zr&s=7Whaddaya guys think?

Why do you persist on doing those fallen trees? If you're really desperate for ambient cover , do stuff like broken rocks and ruins. Oh , make those leaves scenery instead of having the whole thing solid.

OK, does anyone second what Coke said? If I remove the trees, I need some kind of green growth in here to contrast the solid rock walls of the map.

Unfortunately, I cannot portal the map beyond the exactportals applied to the side tunnels, because max likes to screw up the portaling, and tool is now giving me t-junction errors. Effectively, I have finished the bsp, in the sense that there is now a new cliff texture, unwrapped cliffs, slightly fixed goemetry in some areas, and weather effects are applied. Also, I have removed the trees, and placed a few more snowbushes and small snowbushes in their place. You will not see a pic of it until later though, (to heighten anticipation lol ). I will soon hand this over to Gamma, with guidelines for a hydbrid of the gameplay ideas of firefight-portent and b40-firefight. Stay tuned. Edited by MoooseGuy on Sep 16, 2010 at 05:04 AM
