Random update to an old side project, Don't expect it to be finished any time soon as I'm busy with other work.

I just need an animator and a few refinements to the shaders.

There's only one frame available for the overlay animation max recoil and the charge uses like 80 frames..

mb u can make a rotation and combine it with fire anim ?
I think if you make a rotation of 720° the frame will remember it so it will work using 1 frame. Experiment ?

I'm not exactly sure where to start.

First test using OS shader enhancements. Specular and normal were 1 minute jobs, so this could clearly be better, but I'm quite satisfied with the result.

Do you make your normals using high poly models, texturing, crazy bump or something?

Haha, no. I just wanted to test everything out and see stuff ingame right away so I just took the diffuse and made a normal out of it.

I think i've got normals for the PR from Halo 2 somewhere if you wanted something else to test with - I don't imagine they are hard to come by otherwise, though :)
They are particularly low res, however, much like other Halo 2 textures.

Yeah I'm agree. But it's a new studio and the design must change.
Personally, I love it. John looks awesome !

Wow, why the f*** did they make Spartan IV's? They should just add more Spartan II's. Other than that, this MIGHT be better than Reach. Maybe I'll give this a chance.

I think this is strange but the new BR reminds me of that Halo clone 'NOVA', it's almost like its gone full circle. Have to admit, don't really like the new BR, I feel like it looks too much like it came from UT...
(Not that I dislike UT, it just looks odd in the context of the game..!)

I'm pretty sure the Spartan II's were the strongest out of all 3 though, because the Spartan III's were smaller, and the Sparatan I's didn't have augmentation or MJOLNIR suits.

My Theory is that the Spartan IV was created AFTER the events of 3/4 just to keep things tidy, with a wider gene pool and covenant technology.

Will you be creating a UVW map for the low poly model before you release them? I would be interested in texturing it and putting it ingame when it's finished.

Of course, going to attempt bake some normals and texture it myself too, will be a public release though as well :)

For a highpoly? You don't need one.

Fail at attempting to be smart as I always as for a wireframe.

And by simply looking at it you can see if it is or not.

Then how am I supposed to know if it's high poly or not? Looks like a bunch of cylinders imo.

You sir, are a dumbass.

It's clearly sub-divided, you can tell by the extreme smoothness, and the lighting.

And some people just don't know how to troll, because children on here dislike how I say "Wireframe" when one is needed, so your clearly trying to be smart lol. Fail.

Asking for a wireframe, even on a sub-d model is not such a bad thing.
You can still see where errors or improvements could be.

Yes you can, but he clearly is trolling as I always ask for wireframes on lowpoly models. But really if the shading on the sub'd model looks fine, and there are no clear errors such as pinching ect, then there is no need.

All the sub'd model is there for it depth and angle information which is stored on a normal map. And of course AO maps for high quality shadows.

But I can assure you the mesh is fine so far.

And just to note again, the wireframe of a sub'd model can be as messy as possible without causing errors and still be fine to use.

I would like to see a wireframe of that model so far...

But not so that I can give advice, but rather so that I can get an idea of how you are doing things and try to learn from it :D I personally always seem to have a hard time getting nice edge flow.

The highpoly model is looking great so far. Can't wait to see the finished low-poly version with normals whenever you get around to that part.
