I think the triangles give a feel of the older battle rifle, but I don't think it fits with the new model. You're choice to leave it in though, Hunter.

personally I have always hated detail in weapons without purpose. little squares and odd shapes without. I know these are video games, but really are we so ridiculously graphics hungry in detail that we have to MAKE unnecessary detail in our so called "futuristic" weapons?

Oh yeah, about that. I don't think it's worth watesing time over, as this model is used for baking normal maps. So floating geometry is used a lot. The surrounding edges behind them 3 indents won't support creating the indents :/
So I don't know if I could actually get them in easily, I could take another look and try another approach though.

Can we see a profile and an example of the FP view? That will give a clearer idea of the silhouette and how its gonna look to the player :) My first response is that it doesn't feel quite big enough, perhaps a little too 'thin', if you see what I mean? I like the general gist of what's going on. I think making the whole thing scaled up a bit might look okay, so that it sticks out a bit from the rail - else it is pretty small. It's kinda hard to tell with the renders so zoomed in though! Was also gonna say, the render on the other page is looking pretty neat :D EDIT Sorry, trying to be a bit more clear - its not that its too small, but I feel like the proportions are off. It seems a bit long and thin to me. Edited by Diaboy on Mar 14, 2012 at 12:22 PM

The standard scope looks nice, just seems bigger proportionally than the rest of the gun. Try making the scope size sort of like the first one.

Ive integrated the 3 holes into the rest of the mesh so they are no longer floating. Just adding afew bits and bobs and I will put a download link up, bored of it now. Then just need to do the lowpoly version of it.
