Me too, I don't know what Skidrow is talking about.

That isn't wireframe. That is smooth&highlights with with edged faces.

...
Yes that it what it's called in max but everyone just calls it wireframe. It's like, you don't call the Reach AR the "MA37 Individual Combat Weapon System", you call it the Assault Rifle.

In which case wire frame is a generic term. Meaning anything showing the outlines of the faces.

Something like that.

Basically, yes.

Also, "animater" is spelled with an O not an E.

the grip is too boxy and looks horrible without smoothing groups, the trigger guard is bad and has errors in it aswell, the whole gun needs smoothing groups too, also get into the habit of rendering certain parts of the gun, because you might have an error there that you cant see.try not to abuse chamfer that much and always optimize your model, also, post a wireframe.

Seriously, though, It's not too bad. I like revolvers, and it looks like you put some time into it. Fix up the smoothing and errors for it to look really good, and maybe someone will shader it.

Ya I know. I don't know how to put those little details in, like the dents and holes and what not. If you know what I'm talking about. If I did, however, my models woud look 10x better.

I thought the plasma pistol looked pretty good though =P

I would appreciate some tips though from you guys. I'd love to help you with projects.

Well I can't model at all. I take different thing mix them up a bit and do some modding. Weapon wise anyway. BSP, meh.

They are probably better then what I could make from scratch. But they still loko weird.

I only have like 4 months worth of experience in modeling. So don't expect too much in my models.

Technically it was ''user''. It was made in GMAX not 3ds.

But I guess that might be part of the fact that they look weird.

Because nothing ever looks good when it comes out of Gmax./sarcasm

Gmax has all the necessary tools to make great looking models as well.

Tutorials are not dumb, and there is no "get to the point" button. you have to do most of the steps in the tutorial in order to make the model look good. If you search for the Beretta 9000 tutorial ( I think thats the name) you will learn a lot of the basics, and make a pretty good looking model.

I hate tutorials too, but they are absolutely necessary for success. You NEED to seek help and tutorials from other people, otherwise you will end up a crappy user.

Surely the talented people here, such as ODX or Anonymous started out looking everywhere for tutorials and posted some crappy things.

Don't be discouraged.

I actually didn't look at a single tutorial for animating. Learned most of my ropes from ICEE and went off my own experiences (trials and errors, etc) to get wherever the hell it is that I am now >_>

You're not helping.

But to be perfectly honest, I started on my own too. Looked at one tutorial for how to get models in MAX, and then I was off animating crap. 2 months later, I'm right here.

I've been inspired and have taken ideas from animators such as you, ImBrokeRU, Tehlag, and various other animators on Youtube. It's not easy, and it takes time. I myself only learned skinning today, thanks to Skidrow and Anonymous's awesome carbine.

I guess I gotta get used to it.

read the post you just made. thats just ridiculous there.
typically when people make tutorials, its because theyre good at what they do. i cannot tell you how many cool little tricks i have picked up from watching tutorials from other modelers. all i can see here is you either lack the patience or focus to watch a tutorial and follow along with it. if you want tips from other modelers, youre going to have to either hold an area meeting for all 3d modelers in your immediate area of residence in a big meeting hall somewhere, and have them talk to you about modeling, OR go on the internet and watch some tutorials.
