I have about 4000 separate tags and in each one of those tags is a ton of broken paths that leads to more, I am going to go nuts in silence, what do I do?

You've got a ripping problem, my friend. The first step to a solution is admitting that you have a problem. The next best thing to do is to have a fresh start. I know it sounds impossible, but I used to be like you. However, through sheer willpower I was able to overcome my urges. I know you can do it too.

What you should do is actually change the references, or just don't touch the locations. You can change the location of a tag, but not if it's being referenced, if you do change the location of a referenced tag you should change the references in the tags that reference it to match the right location. (Also, I would suggest to just reset your tags folder at this point.)

The only issue with not relocating them is that they clog your tags folder with useless folders when they could be categorized by Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, Halo Reach, and Custom
I am seriously still debating on what I am going to do. I think I'm going to try and categorize them.
I honestly don't know why people jumped to conclusions about ripping, when it is me downloading biped tags and weapon tags from the hce.halomaps.org and trying to get them to not completely clog my tags folder. Not only that but half of the collision models don't even work with the tags they come with or do not even come with collision models, and the stock ones do not work either, the only options I have are to let them not have a collision which really is pointless, or to attempt to make one. *shudders*
What I honestly want is to have the most organized tagset possible, which will take a lot of effort but in the end be 100% worth it. Edited by S12Spark on May 12, 2015 at 04:09 PM

Once I tried to rip a zteam H3 assault rifle to my "weapons\assaul rifle\" it took me like 5 hours to fix every broken path, Since then I just put 'em in its original folder. Edited by Kinnet on May 12, 2015 at 06:00 PM

When I used to rip things, I would compare the tags to the stock tag equivalent, if they were the same values and bitmaps, I would use stock and not worry about ripping those specific tags, it saves hours. Especially on material effects.

you are going to find after all this work that it was not worth it
released tags lack standards, which need to be set first, including standards for tag paths like those I presented for the INCY Online
released tags are too inconsistent between themselves due to lack of these standards or project-based organization
so do not take the time to sort the tags because they are unusable for any project of quality Or just wait for TMM to do it.

Heh, I've learned that. I have a question, is it too extreme of an idea to have two CMT tagsets in one tags folder? How long would it take me to re-direct all of evolveds tagset paths to cmt_evolved instead of CMT? I feel like it could take more than a day. Could I get it done in under 4 hours?

Introduce 1 folder at a time. This way you can track down your offenders easily and without the desire to leap out of your bed side window.

The way our tagset is set up you can have multiple tagsets in it, each folder is broken down into _shared, evolved, spv3 and you are welcome to make your own directory as well. the idea was to store non-gameplay specific files in the shared folder, with gameplay specific tags in other ones.

If I actually do end up completing this, would it be alright with you and CMT and members that have contributed if I uploaded the new directory of it, full credit rights and whatnot to CMT, just so others may use both tagsets in one folder.

The CMT folder is already arranged in a way that separately references Evolved\SPV3 tags.
