Quote: --- Original message by: NeX masters, I think you're getting a little childish in the argument logic there, and it's beneath you. At this point you're both arguing over the same facts but from differing opinions, which is as hilarious as watching a religious debate.
On an actual note, claiming that this garbage is Microsoft "meeting the demand for a halo on PC" is laughable.
My child is very hungry, has a huge demand for food, so here's 2 saltine crackers that I jizzed on. By definition, it's edible and technically does the job, but it's a sad, sorry excuse for what the actual demand is for.
It'd be like having a market demand for a sports car - the car in demand is made in the US, but has high demand overseas, where it's (let's presume for this little picture) illegal to drive a car that is driver-left-side on their road system. So they beg and plead for YEARS. YEARS they ask for a driver-right-side model to be made, meanwhile the manufacturer of the car is the one paving the roads these people want to drive the car on, and they release all sorts of OTHER cars that are the correct type, but never that specific one. Then finally, one day, they say "this line of cars you've been asking for....well...here comes a new car from that line, that is DRIVER-RIGHT-SIDE! THATS RIGHT! IT'S MADE FOR YOU! IN THE FORMAT YOU WANTED! Oh but it's actually a really crappy minivan and it charges you per use for features like GPS and MP3 support. Each song is $1, GPS use is $10/100 miles. Enjoy you car, stop whining, we did what we wanted."
That's hardly meeting market demand, and it's a very close parallel to whats going on with this H:O garbage. Hence MS isn't even the one developing it, 343i is just kind of babysitting to make sure the new cash cow doesn't get a disease and die.
I have more hope for fan-based PC halo games like I:01 and Project Contingency (which is funny, because PC probably will never finish, which is why I abandoned ship earrrrly on).
Should people download the legitimate source files? Sure they were free and available. Should people hack and redistribute? Probably not, but the whole 'piracy is wrong' is a dead horse. Everyone has their stance on it and nothing you say will change anybody's mind. Should people thank microsoft for finally bringing this garbage to PC? No, they should not. It's a slap in the face to everyone who is a halo fan on the PC that this spliced up garbage is meant to appease us.
Sad days. FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO GETS IT AND ISNT CIRCLEJERKING OVER IT.... the game is unproven yes, and i understand the excitement over having something built off of the halo 3 engine on pc. but when it has combined everything that the core community hates in the later halo games all into one and slaps microtransactions (something that is hated with a passion by most gamers) on top of things, it feels like a major slap in the face. i also vote to close this thread. it has only attracted trolls and other new members who (other than a possible few) have actually showed interest in contributing and joining the community. we may have also attracted the negative attention of microsoft, which we really don't want..... imo id be happier with just the halo 3 or reach version of the engine on pc, not the whole MCC.
that way microsoft wouldnt hurt their precious xbones sales a bit (the pc master race people do good enough of a job driving away console players to not make it an issue anyways)
also to the post above... big corporate game publishers aren't looking for longevity in their games.... they want a quick hook so they can sell the next one to their players. Edited by killzone64 on Apr 18, 2015 at 01:07 AM

Really? All of us here who don't own an XBone don't own it because we are poor, poor pirates? Not that we aren't buying consoles in the principle that we believe it offers an inferior gaming experience? Reaaally? Are you trying to tell us that Microsoft is showing us that "Commitment to PC gamers" through giving us (and by us I mean Russia) a Free2Play Micro-transaction ridden Multiplayer only trash-fest? Reeeeaaaaallllyyyy? Do you think aaaaanyone here is buying that? Quote: --- Original message by: Masters1337 You talk about this game as if it's crackers when it's far more interesting than a PC MCC. A multiplayer only game is "far more interesting" than a full package of 4 Singleplayer campaigns (one of which is completely remastered), over 100 Multiplayer maps running in their respective engines, and brand new remastered Maps for H2A Multiplayer? If you really believe this then please leave game design and anything dev related in general. Quote: --- Original message by: Masters1337 It's a breath of fresh air and a new take on Halo
If Michelin released a square tire that you have to constantly pay to plug the holes in, would that be a "fresh" and "new take on" Tires that you would enjoy too? Quote: --- Original message by: killzone64 i also vote to close this thread. it has only attracted trolls and other new members who (other than a possible few) have actually showed interest in contributing and joining the community. What I'D like to see? where do I start... > mods. good starting point > a games browser allowing users to play what they want as opposed to their horrendously broken matchmaking. matchmaking could be used for competitive > user-hosted servers, so the game only dies when users lose interest, not when MS shuts things down > fov slider > adjustable graphics details > content creation tools allowing users to realize their own vision > mods > m/k aim > faster loading times based on the system > unlocked framerate. 144hz is becoming popular > 4k resolution support > steam overlay. far more convenient than sending messages through xbone's interface. > customizable controls > mods? all of these would be nothing but beneficial, are selling points, and would increase longevity, interest, and long-term sales of the game. people are still buying hce, and as I said before, there's a thousand on at any given time, because it's a good PC release supported by a very passionate community. >Mods aren't going to happen, especially not with how crappy that UI is that ties it all together. >game browser won't happen since everything for MCC is suppose to be happening on dedicated servers, with matchmaking. That's the whole appeal of it's MP being re-released. >user hosted servers aren't going to happen, dedi servers from MS are a core part of the game >FOV is not going to happen, especially in later games where what is being rendered is highly reliant on the FOV limits >So you'd want to have less detail than what we have on XB1? >I guess we'd get the ability to do some basic HMT style stuff? So that be cool I'll give you this one >m/k we'd get too of course, although this is a personal preference. Personally, I can't stand M/K but different strokes... >faster loading times? this is a feature that makes you want it? >60 FPS isn't good enough? Granted MCC can stutter at times, but that has to do with it being on X86 more than underpowered hardware >4k would be cool for the 1% that have it. You keep saying yay mods! But there would be nothing but silly basic stuff without a real HEK, which is one of the 2 reasons the current game still has life in it, the other being it's ass easy to pirate.

Quote: --- Original message by: Masters1337 Are you people really that flat ass broke you can't afford $350 for MCC + XB1? Why on earth would you want that game on PC anyway. Yes. Is my lack of finances so insulting to you? Should I hide my head in shame because every spare penny goes towards food and utilities instead of frivolous things like video games? Coming from you, that's a disappointing start to an argument. Not everybody can afford the nicest, newest things. Acting as though everybody can is extremely selfish. Quote: --- Original message by: Masters1337It'll never have mod support, will require 343's dedicated servers, won't look or play any better than it does on XB1, won't have split screen, and won't offer anything new! You're implying here that a lack of mod support is an inherently bad thing. It's desirable, but would it make or break Halo for me? Of course not - I'd simply like to be able to play the games that defined my teenage years again without having to shell out a month's wages on a new box. Why is wanting a nostalgia fix such a difficult concept for you to grasp? Are you going to tell me that Steam's Genesis Collection is a bad thing because I can't mod different sprites into Sonic the Hedgehog? Quote: --- Original message by: Masters1337Wha wha wha, the game I know nothing about sucks and I hate it give me a game that's 7 years old. We know full well that it's going to be micro-transaction-driven. That's enough of a turn-off at the start. We also know that it's going to feature armour abilities - which, I'll mention, the vast portion of the community dislikes. Do I need to go on? Quote: --- Original message by: Masters1337Like I said, the way the community is handling this is so immature and disrespectful, let alone illegal, is just going to push them away from ever wanting to venture into future PC endeavors in the future. Microsoft have known for years that PC gamers would throw money at them the very second they announced any sort of decent Halo game for the PC platform. The point of this goes that, rather than tapping into a known, LOYAL fanbase and saying 'hey guys, sorry we neglected you, here's a classic pack for you to enjoy, please give us free money', Microsoft have instead opted to deliver a hearty slap to the face, neatly bundled up in Russian with love. Oh, and let's not forget that mobile-gaming garbage, Spartan Assault/Spartan Strike. That's like asking your parents every day of the year for years on end that you'd love a puppy, and then they go ahead and buy your sister a retarded cat she never even asked for. Are you beginning to see how absolutely frustrated people like me are? I mean, Christ - if a Microsoft rep turned up tomorrow and handed me a copy of the MCC for Windows, I'd wet my frilly little knickers and offer him a blowie.

Since H:O has been leaked, I've never been grabbed in the hype train that is destroying this forum (at least for those trolls that are bashing here and there saying to who is trying to build something in this old engine "give up, blam engine is old, H:O is better"... Dennis, I know they don't break any rules, but sincerely, how do you keep your self-control with them? Sometimes I wish I were as calm and resolute as you)... the reason is simple: I don't care about multiplayer. I love Halo for its storyline, and a Halo game based exclusively on multiplayer is a big NO to me. Someone won't agree with me, but I can live with it. So, the whole point of bringing H:O to everyone, removing microtransitions etc. is completely pointless to me, especially since they're breaking tons of rules, and playing with fire. I'd never expected to see someone do so much efforts just for a F2P/P2W Halo game... So, I agree with Dennis, Masterz, Killzone and everyone who thinks this whole absurdity has gone far over the morality limit (speaking of legality and morality, Dennis... did you study Kant? :3) and I vote for the locking of this thread too.
My only complaint is the "I can't believe you can't afford an XO" thing... where I live, that is a reality for a lot of people. Not because we're poor, but because it's extremely hard to find a job, so you have to choose how to spend your money, since you won't get many in the future... and honestly I'd prefer paying for the university, instead of a mediocre console...

As I've already said, it's primarily Halo 3 that people want and I'd wager that the bulk of the demand is coming from players that already own it along with an Xbox. It has zilch to do with being broke. Aside from that, it's hypocritical to slam those that don't like the direction this pay-to-win game is likely to take on the basis of it not being out while at the same time praising it for being a "breath of fresh air". Quote: --- Original message by: Masters1337 Why on earth would you want that game on PC anyway. It'll never have mod support, will require 343's dedicated servers, won't look or play any better than it does on XB1, won't have split screen, and won't offer anything new! Worst of all, you'll likely have W10 pushed on you for it and the new cross platform play bullcrap for your "competitive" Halo.
That's some list of assumptions. Guess which other game doesn't have dedicated servers or modding support? Halo Online. ;) Quote: --- Original message by: Dennis No one is starving so there it no moral ambiguity. This is a luxury item. It is not a necessary item or commodity being horded. This then is the very definition of theft of services. You're mistaken, none of the dev team have ever focused on the micro-transactions part of the game, that was just a misquote from someone who clearly didn't understand what we were doing. You can still "purchase" the microtransactional items from the store and use them with ElDewrito if you're so inclined (even though purchasing isn't the right word to use, seeing as there's no way to spend real money in this game, it's all using credits you earn by playing...) But that'll only work if the HO server is operational, right now it isn't, which is why we've hidden it in the current release. Edited by _emoose_ on Apr 18, 2015 at 12:47 PM

Just stick with halo ce engine it has potential. First: you're a retard. Just throwing that out there, just in case people got confused. Secondly: the HO team hasn't 'removed' any features. All the work currently done has been to bring the alpha up to a playable state - adding the ability to party up, adding the ability to Forge maps. No features haven't been 'removed' to my knowledge, they've simply not been made available to use. Or, to use a crude analogy: you're complaining that these guys haven't fixed the air conditioning in your car before putting the engine in and wheels back on. Until El Dewrito is in a functional state, nobody has any right to say 'hey, the HO team's removed this and that!' - they haven't. They're focusing on the core game first, and then we can look at adding in microtransactions and superfluous gub - at that point, you're likely to see development branch into one group that wants Halo Online 'out of the box', and another that wants the game stripped down to a 'Halo 3 Online' state.
