the clock speed of a CPU is but a small slice of the whole cake. remember, Pentium 4 CPU's could clock 2.6GHz.

No, that's not conjecture on my part. I'm running an i3 that's four generations old now, clocked *slower* than that, and OS almost never drops below 60. Honestly, any modern CPU that isn't a damn Atom shouldn't choke Halo.

I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure I said that Clock speed doesn't mean much from the start. I just was correcting someone who incorrectly corrected my correct statement. (yeah buddy, on a roll there)

If cmt spv3 TSC:E disappoints due to a lack of quality because the team was pressured into releasing earlier under the duress of YOU fans.

I'm so going to feed your rabbits chicken.

And its gonna be delicious.

I have third generation APU,
I don't need to overclock to have a responsive system.

Also: Why bother? Even with OS, people still insist on throwing amazing looking tags into Quake2-esque BSPs with ugly diffuse textures

I am totally with you on this; the only exception I've seen so far is Halo: Composition, but that won't be here for a while.

If they were pressured to release it early, don't you think they wouldn't have delayed it as many times as they have?

I have one that can go 3.6 Ghz. I use it as a server. they do exist. there is even one that tops out at 3.8Ghz

A single computer rendering a full 4 part dlm set takes about 3 or 4 days. However if anything goes wrong, we have to run followup renders to fix the areas in question. This prevents us from moving to new areas for rendering. With work and render times it's been a little slower during this week, but we're definitely still moving. We will post a new chart as soon as we get a new major change.

It has been a productive weekend. We finished unwrapping two BSPs for lighting, bringing us to 5 of 10 UV mapped -- halfway there! Only 2 of 10 BSPs still need iteration on their lighting setup, and 2 of 10 are 100% finalized.

Ifafudafi has been taking time to work with the 100% final BSPs to pretty up their environment textures and shaders, so that they look nicer with DLMs enabled. He's doing good work.

I purged some unused animations from our bipeds, which gave us enough tagspace to add some more hidden secrets. (Animation tags are one of the biggest consumers of the memory allocated to tag data). I hope that everyone enjoys these secrets.

I was looking through some old progress shots and it's really something how far we've come in the last two years. Here is a comically primitive blockout of one of our areas that I found. It dates back to December 2012!

After X years of staring down both h1 forerunner and what's become our unique spin on that style, it's equal parts wonderful and frightening to have to completely recalibrate my mental model of what it's supposed to look like, now that we have the means to make forerunner metal look like Actual Metal. Not too long ago I was running around panicking that it was too much and we'd never get it right, but today I'm bouncing in my chair waiting to take care of the next BSP's set of materials. "Breakthrough" is a word whose meaning has bcome sort of muted over time, but no other will do.

Will a demonstration of the difference make its way to the thread in the coming days? We'll have to see how quickly the lighting process goes
