this is why release dates are bad unless you're like finished and just need to touch up stuff but stuff that doesnt need to be touched up for a release

Yeah, I think that exact release dates should always be final.


There's downsides and upsides to not sticking to a release date you set.
If you do stick to your timelines:

Obvious downside:
- Your product risks not being as polished as it could have been with more time.

Upsides:
- You will more easily be able to call things "finished", this opposed to the case in which people start a bunch of projects and never finish them. This alone is actually one of the most important upsides!
- You learn to work towards set timelines, under a certain amount of pressure.
- You learn to make tough decisions on which parts to focus your last efforts on.
- You show your fanbase that you do work towards milestones that they can reasonably rely on, a very important aspect in today's Early Access indiegame industry.

Note: this is a general-purpose post about sticking to release dates. I'm aware this project is a hobby, but I'd reckon it's still good practise to try to stick to timelines reasonably well, even for hobbies.

So CMT's 10 year anniversary is on November 26th, so this could be the release date (If I was correct could I have a jar of cookies?) or earlier than that.
