Here's kornman's message from July.

I can't guarantee what will or won't be addressed in the next installer, but in terms of the 1.09 nonsense for those who have already updated to 1.10, the goal is to include the 1.09 EXE files with the installer.

Yeah, I think that exact release dates should always be final.
Either like/dislike system or remove it completely. 1-10 is unnecessary range.
One of the main reasons why people will always choose to rate either 1 or 10 is to make their vote feel influential and powerful in the back of their heads. They wan't to impact the averege rating as much as possible. And trust me, great amount of adults with high IQs do that too. They might think that the map is realistically worth of 8 but they still give it a 10 for the sake of counter-trolling.
By the way, how do people get past the ui size limit (it's something like 35mb I believe)? What are the options? Tool_pro? Are there any downsides with that? I've heard that some people try to avoid that program.
After testing it, I am positively surprised. I was expecting this update to be something small but it seems that pretty much everything has improved.
Negative. Your 8th picture is about different text. That is the header that is located on top of screen when you select controls setup, and is indeed bitmap. Compare the fonts to see the difference - for example look at the shape of "E".
There is a misconception here and its my fault.
I do know that the button backgrounds and the main headers are bitmaps. I've had success in making the bitmaps look like I want them to look. I am only interested in your third picture which features highlighted text: "CONTROLS SETUP". Zoom in and take a look at the color. White? No.
As far as I know, the "controls setup" is not a bitmap tag. It's a string that uses large_ui.font and is pasted on top of bitmap background called list_item_bkd. It's text content can be edited from ui/shell/main_menu/settings_select/player_setup/player_profile_edit/profile_edit_options.unicode_string_list. The color can be altered from ui/shell/main_menu/settings_select/player_setup/player_profile_edit/controller_setup_profile_item.ui_widget_definition. By default, it's turquoise. I've tried making it white but like I said, the outcome is dirty.
Thank you sparky!
1.) Alrighty.
2.) I also initially thought that the slight grayness has to do with alpha but the text color is indeed set to ARGB of 1 1 1 1. However, further investigation proved that the final appearance was actually 1 0.8 0.8 0.8. Your suggestion to include the text in bitmaps is actually neat idea but it will take quite a bit of extra work.
3.) I was referring more to the strings. Like in the settings menu there are texts like "Change Name", "Controls Setup" etc with turquoise color (which you can change) but when you put crosshair over them they always highlight to white (which you can't change?). I was trying out some ui editing to customize something for myself and here's some questions that have bothered me and I'm yet to find answers.
1.) The pause menu while playing multiplayer: Is it influenced by ui.map or does it load the bitmaps from somewhere else like bitmaps.map?
2.) Why is the white text GRAY in Halo UI?
3.) Is it possible to change the string highlight color by editing certain tag? I mean when you bring the crosshair over some headers, they always change to gra... I mean.. eh.. white. Would be cool to have the highlight color set to something else.
I know it's stupid to start new topic like this but if someone else has problems with UI, I guess they could post here?
I enjoyed the H3 UI too. With little changes and fixes it would be really neat. Mangenkyo's work and UUI are definitely the ones that stand out (Chiller too but it's over the top, lol). I didn't know that UUI is getting update soon so that's awesome.
All the high quality ones seem to be vaporware :( What happens to them!?

I can't be the only one who's missing user interface that's truly eye candy. We have so many astonishing levels but not a single stunning UI. I've tried to make my own but quite frankly I suck. Are there any good looking UIs in the development atm?

@ questions about the next update: we're working to get up and running shortly before CMT's next release. More information (where to download, get source, changes, etc) will be released once it solidifies. With that said, we'll still only support v1.09 for the next release, but will have many of the fixes that appear in 1.10 (including the replacement master server). Overtime (esp since the last game update), the amount of engine memory we directly reference has severely grown, and updating them all to 1.10 right now isn't feasible with our free time schedule, on top of finalizing release-features. Honestly, any time spent supporting 1.10 I'd rather spend on redesigning how we target game binaries (so that most, if not all, code references are not hardcoded into OS).

Sorry noob question but um... is TSC:E part of Spv3 or are they completely distinct projects?
I somewhat solved my 'problem'. I googled around and found out about program called Dxtory. It offers fps limiter for games. Fraps can do the same but only when recording. So now I get smooth gameplay and precise mouse movement without putting unnecessary load on GPU.
Basically Halo CE offers 3 options: 30fps, vsync and no vsync.
First one is not very smooth. Second one causes irritating mouse lag. Third one fries your computer (jk, but seriously though, I don't think it's necessary for my fan and card to go nuts just to get the game run over 1000+ fps).
What do you people prefer? And would it be possible to make the engine cap the fps like in Source games?
I have some questions about medal packs.
1) Are the packs supposed to replace original ctf announcements with the new audio files like "flag_taken.mp3" etc that can be found form audio folder? When I play ctf, flag captures are announced twice (H1 and HR announcer same time) and the rest are announced with default Halo 1 voice only. I'm wondering if the "problem" is only at my end.
2) Is it possible to align the medals differently and place them to different positions (to match the original chat) by editing certain files? Or are those settings only accessible to developer?
