Whew, thankfully I'm not illiterate, heh.

Wait...

EDIT: Whoops forgot to ask, so once this whole thing's complete it shouldn't have a huge performance hit should it? I have no idea as to how the HEK works and how the engine works for Halo, but would running a game released in '07 on an engine released back in '04 go smoothly, since the X360's hardware isn't as capable as today's mid-range PCs?

Ooooh sweet, yeah I do recall playing the OS version of a50 and I did notice a frame rate drop with certain OS features on. It wasn't enough to have a major impact on gameplay, but it definitely was noticeable.

Dang now that I look at H3 I'm wondering how laggy it will be in CE with all the foliage.


it actually ran superbly with rats nest after about 200k polys (only lost 5 fps from 180) were added in as scenery. the foliage should be of no consequence


Not to mention that when we got to 300k Tool would crash when compiling the map because we hit the max amount of allocated memory for models.



Yes but open sause will handle those correct?

Wrong, reach assets you will find some issue with that when it comes to porting.

Nowadays people are into porting Halo 3 assets into halo CE.

Halo 2 and 3 were the one. Playing halo 3 christmas morning, fresh out the box, sock crammed with candy on my lap to cram my chubby little face, literally producing my first jizzlets playing through this jungle on my also new 360. God bless matthew, VKMT and others. It's going to be our cutest moment once this comes out.

I wonder if anybody would be interested in sort of roleplaying the campaign once matthew releases it, What I mean by that is trying to sort of behave like the Chief would, react to our environment and the events happening around us. Also it means being careful and taking our time when necessary. Obviously it would also mean we wouldn't skip cutscenes! Like some PC gamers never had that aswome experienced .

I really like that. Often, people just think about shooting, not about experiencing the universe and story around them. Makes me a bit sad really, considering the efforts put in the Halo games. Well let's hope this is a good port.

tbh, if this comes out i am ganna make a halo 3 walkthrough and upload it on youtube and see if anyone can tell diference if this a pc or xbox.


they'll be able to tell. this is the halo ce engine.

Im having to redo bsp 000 and 010 since they have too many errors. 015, 020, 025 are all done with no errors

What I've heard is that the new Open Sause is much closer to Halo 3 when it comes to Graphics, scripting, boarding and stuff.

I hope one day if this gets release i dont wanna see 1 single halo 1 assets in there.
Everything needs to be halo 3!


Example a halo 1 bullet hole.
Jesse did that to foundry map and he didnt added halo 3 bullet hole and explosion ground.

How about we hope to see the BSP playable from start to finish before we start worrying about exhangable weapons and things like bullet holes.

Im pretty sure thats fake. By fake, its not how you think it is. Player enters trigger volume, show text, press text to give player weapon and destroy and then replace the AI.

Looks like it's just spawning in a different AI_variant there based on a condition generated by some weapon hidden in the biped. It wouldn't work with anything actually moving, I don't think.
