That is a horrible reason to not a get someone else. The ToS aside it is clear that this place needs at least one other person helping out. Between the maps never being updated and the forums constantly looking like a mess for hours at a time is troubling. Now I haven't done too much website work in my time. I have only been an admin of a Minecraft server and helped keep both the game and the forums clean. It honestly wasn't that difficult to keep your team in check as long as you got the right people. Even then though you were usually dealing with a bunch of children with mommy's credit card and not a more adult "group".

Look, can we be completely honest here? What Dennis has done in providing terabytes of bandwidth a year for the past decade or so aside, he isn't a trusting or humble person. Even if there weren't a TOS in place (which I don't think has been posted in any form anywhere) I doubt he'd be willing to extend that kind of authority to anyone in this group, experience be damned.

Because in his mind this is nothing but a bunch of squabbling children. And to a degree, he's right. No one here has exactly gone out of their way to disprove that, especially all those spam accounts. But IMO that's an incorrect basis, as the way he carries himself and runs this place is the very cause of the dearth of respect that stimulates the handful that continually attack the peace. It's a vicious cycle.

And so if he were to give the reigns to someone else, not only would he end up sharing power (something I wouldn't hesitate to presume he isn't used to), it'd also be effectively turning his back on everything he's said and done up to this point. A major loss of face which would probably be construed as a victory by that problematic few. And to him, that's unacceptable. Should it be to us? Hard to say. Many have tried to create websites to replace this one in the past, and all have failed because they didn't have someone so arrogant yet so impartial at the helm.

If there were to be a second mod he'd have to have similar...well, I'd hesitate to call them qualities, but character traits to keep the moderation style consistent. And I can't think of any in this immediate group that fit the bill.

Just my thoughts.

I do agree, it is super hard to find someone as calm and cool headed as dennis. But there are out there.

There are some trustworthy people for Dennis like maniac, the rest are all inactive.

The fact that the entiere community relies on Dennis shoulders is actually quite deranging to me...

With the ability to create threads and file sharing sites like mediafire and dropbox, any user with a forum account is capable of uploading a map to be downloaded by other members of the community.

Let me see if I understand the logic of this thread. Insult the person who for over 10 years has been footing the bill and and has consistently kept the site open and active as a way to motivate him to kowtow to your selfish wishes. This is not best idea you have ever had.

Instead of inquiring politely why the site has not been updated you and others instead figure it's all about you. I have news for you. It's not and it's not about me either its ALL about someone else who needs my attention considerably more that any of you do.

A lesser person would instruct you to perform am unnatural act on your self but I will refrain from doing so.

The site will be updated when I have the time and physical proximity to do so.

I have no quarrel against you and you shouldn't take it as an insult. I was just asking. I respect your situation but the least thing you could do was inform us.

You know, I just read your bio on the Huffington Post. I guess you don't need my pity, but I do apologize for my offensive words in retrospect. I won't try to justify them, or try to explain why this thread even exists, just understand that even the most aggressive brats here appreciate every second you take out of your life to make this site happen despite any outward evidence to the contrary. If you ever need a hand I'm certain everyone here would step forward.

He has informed us on multiple occasions prior to this.

Dennis was taking care of an ill family member not so long ago, maybe he still is. You guys should stop it :/

No one's questioning your generosity, but it seems rather nil when you fail as a moderator and refuse to hire anyone else to assist you. I don't think anyone on this forum is suited to be a moderator, yourself included.

As to why he doesn't get someone else to moderate alongside him, he once said that because of certain reasons (contracts or something about having to work at UXB) he can't get outside help, and none of his employees want to get involved in these forums.

I'm aware of that, I said he refuses to hire someone.

On several occasions I have. But it is a private matter I do not go about announcing.
If you are willing to pay his salary and health insurance I would gladly hire someone to moderate the forum. No one at UXB, other than myself, wants anything to do with the forum. They have or have had teenagers of their own. And for security reasons I cannot access the uploaded files remotely. There is no remote access to my internal network.

Then why bother keeping this up? From what ive heard you could save so much money and time if you just terminated this website.
