Probably just me but never really got onboard with the concept of an SSD. Sure, it's gonna be legacy hardware by the time it finally dies, but just that element of not possible, but guaranteed failure is a huge turnoff to me. whereas just treat your hdd like the queen bit** it is and chances are you won't run into catastrophic data loss. e: Quote: --- Original message by: DennisQuote: --- Original message by: BKTiel I've found the only way to avoid them entirely is to be an antisocial bigot, to be honest.

Quote: --- Original message by: stryking You're going to need a different motherboard as that is for AMD chipsets and the CPU you picked is a intel 2011 chipset. id probably get a 2 TB WD black hdd as they are more reliable then seagates along with that if one drive fails, you lose all your data with 3 TB, along with a 120GB SSD for some programs and to load windows on. i mihgt see if i can come up with a better build later.
there is also ncix.com and tigerdirect.com for pc sites too, and using pcpartpicker.com is helpful for picking out parts. Ahh good eye. I would really like a 3tb harddrive though even if it is more money. I use space like crazy and although 3tb might sound like a lot to people I can easily go through 1tb in a few months and sometimes I just wipe my harddrive because I have too much crap on it. Maybe Ill go for the savings then and just get 2Tb. Although I do want to invest in this computer, I'm not rich. I'd still like to slash the price by 200 or so dollars though. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wC7MTW Let me know what I could pick at. And who knows, maybe I'll get more money sooner than expected? Quote: --- Original message by: stryking You don't have to go all about at the beginning, the great thing about pcgaming is that you an always upgrade it. As per the 3GB hdd, my biggest concern would be it failing and you would lose all 3gb of data. Truetrue. The reason I'm building a computer is so I can upgrade it. My dell has all those flat screws (I forgot the name right now...) but essentially I can't recover crap from it. I almost couldnt get my bluray drive in and even though there is a 2nd disk drive, unless I use brute force, I wouldn't be able to get another drive in there thanks to Dell. What I would like is something I could let sit for 2-5 years and not worry about it too much. Maybe upgrade something here or there if needed.

Looks good to me at first glance, though I'm curious as to why you're bothering with liquid cooling for your CPU when your graphics card is going to be louder and will produce more heat than the CPU could anyway? Oh and after you build it, you might want to consider partitioning that HDD in case you ever want to dual boot Linux or something

Not just hipsters. Looks like it's rapidly becoming the go-to for members of the tea party, too. Justified? Maybe. But if the NSA really wants to look at your porn collection they're going to find a way no matter what you do.

I know it is a bit more but hell if I saved up for more power, im sure you can too why not use this setup? After doing research the R9 290 isn't that bad compared to a 780, especially when overclocked. When changing, I save $100 and can use that on other parts. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-290-review-benchmark,3659-8.html Data here. The R9 290 is equal or maybe even slightly better in most cases. And for $100, that's a deal. I'm not rich though. Edited by MatthewDratt on Jul 1, 2014 at 02:34 AM

I'm not rich though. Edited by MatthewDratt on Jul 1, 2014 at 12:33 AM A neat little trick you can use, buy everything from the japs. It should come out to maybe 100 - 200 dollars cheaper. After import fees. I worked it out, in todays market to build dratts dream it would cost me around.........£700 - £1000. And to import the parts from jap land, it be £500 - £750, having said that compatibility maybe an issue with certain parts since they have arrived from a different region. And plus there is no guarantee what you pay for will turn up.

GTX Titan Black Edition at the moment, though that's just two 780 Tis shipped on a single PCB and it's wildly cost inefficient.
So really the best *single* card would be either the 780 or R9 290X, depending on who you ask (and the depth of their pocketbook).
