well i was istalling the 3D max 2008 on my pc i am get this error, how can i fix it?.

i am getting the same issue. i would like to know how to fix it as well. anyone know what to do?

its weird but i have max 8 on win 7 and i know some one using max 8 on win 8

ok so now that i tracked down max 7 i installed it with no issues started it and then the window pops up. everything in max has loaded up except for the viewports. and it freezes right there. doesnt go any farther and if i click on the window it stops responding... any ideas?

I have W7 and use Max 8. I don't know if this will help your error but I had to revert to an older graphics driver for it to work. I have AMD so I had to revert to an older version of Catalyst

Max 10 is also good for Halo use. There are enough scripts/exporters for Max 10 to be just fine for Halo

yes but bluestreak has a tendency to create errors that do not exist in the actual model. that's why i am trying to use old versions of max.

i use max 10 for everything else but for bsp work bluestreak does not work

ill try an old version of catalyst but since i have a relatively new videocard (hd 7770) it may not work. it may possibly work if i use my old desktop but i doubt it has enough power to run 3ds max

The installer could be corrupted or have missing files. Try downloading it from a dif. source.
