Support for some other models is still lacking, such as for the Warthog and the Pelican, as well as some other miscellenea such as forge structures and such. Very nice to see that Gravemind is still working his ass off on this.

Let that be a lesson to those of us in the community who don't know how to appreciate something useful, the time spent on developing Adjutant and the people behind it.

As I said in the original post: if you let me know which models you're having an issue with, I'll add them to the list at the start for consideration.

Per usual:
-storm_civilian_female (some textures and no head)
-storm_cortana (diffuse and no head)
-storm_delrio (no head)
-storm_lasky (no head)
-storm_sentinel (missing textures)
-storm_marine (missing some textures, no head)
-storm_masterchief_mp (can't view model, missing diffuse)
-storm_lich (can't view model)
-storm_pelican (can't view model)
-storm_warthog (can't view model)
-storm_infinity (can view model, but it's hard to describe what I'm looking at... it's like guts. Guts that are spewed all over the place...)
-storm_mammoth (same as storm_infinity)

There are some other scenery models that can't be viewed in Adjutant, like the forge structures (for those of us who may just wind up using them to make maps for machinima), and in-map items that are used during scripted animations and during cutscenes.

All added - thanks kindly.

Do any of the aforementioned models extract at all? I managed to get a copy of the UNSC Infinity from the Liftoff mission and a Lich from Midnight.

I found something called temp_infinity, which has the full, if low-poly textures. As for the Lich, I found another that wasn't the actual vehicle asset, but a cheap one found in the same.

For me, I cannot even view the Infinity model in the model viewer. Here is what I see.

http://screencast.com/t/3b8SVTJCzD

If you would please looks towards the bottom part of the model viewer window, you will see an error. Does anyone know what would/is causing this?

Thanks

PS: I also get this with most of the other models listed in the first post (i.e. Pelican, Warthog, Mammoth and some of the others).

I think you're extracting from the wrong folder (models are, as far as I'm aware, stored in render_model, though I couldn't find the folders you have up on display in any of my maps for some reason), which may be part of the issue. As for the other models with the same issue, I can't be sure. I did have this explained to me a few days ago, but the recollection eludes me. Either way: it sounds like it'd be a reasonably simple fix, but then, I don't know an awful lot about coding.

I could ask Gravemind for the source code and try to get the errors fixed, but that'd only be for a few models. For the others (such as the multiplayer Spartan assets not extracting properly), I'd be well out of my depth, since that seems to be something else entirely.

The -other- solution is to very kindly ask Gravemind if he'd be willing to look into it at some point.

I think I know why you are not seeing what I am showing in that image. I am using the view mode called "Folder Hierarchy", you may be using the view mode called "Tag Class". I personally have found that using Folder Hierarchy for a viewing mode is MUCH easier because of fact that is places all the model tags and bitmaps tags in a nice location to be easily found. You might want to try Folder Hierarchy and see what I mean. Either way is up to you, though I am still wondering what the error that is displayed in the image I posted actually means and if it can be fixed...

No, it does not, and from what we know, Gravemind does not plan on including a feature to export animations. So...again...no and Adjutant will most likely never have such a feature.

I did have a conversation with a friend, who's in his third year of a programming degree:

Quote:
[13:13:30] Rosanna Weyland: Boris. Remind me again - that error I gave you about source arrays. What did you say the fix was?
[13:14:01] Endurance: From the glance I gave it, change the array from static to dynamic.
[13:14:05] Endurance: Or give it more space.
[13:14:10] Rosanna Weyland: Da, danke

That's as far as I can get, to be honest. Like I said, I'm no coder, so this is from what people have told/suggested to me. However, from my basic understanding:

The program doesn't have the space/memory to load/extract high-poly models (UNSC Infinity, multiplayer Spartans, Warthog, Lich et al). Changing the array may fix this, or it may not, I really don't know.

No, but you can easily rig and animate the models yourself, I believe.

Thanks for the great definition. But if it's derogatory then the people calling me a troll are breaking a halomaps rule. Go back to the halo 4 thread.

Thanks Gravemind!

I do have some questions.
What are these control maps for?

Also does Masterchief's visor have a texture?

Looks like the Mk VI G2 multiplayer armour, from what I recognise of the boot on the left.

You didn't answer his question. The control maps are similar to multipurpose maps in halo 1. I believe they include specular/illumination/colour change or something like that.

Please people, stop arguing over petty matters. We get what a troll is and it will vary from person to person. We understand that different people have different views and opinions, thus the definition of what a troll is and is not will very from person to person as well.

So now, can we please get back on track on what this topic is about? I don't want another good thread to be locked because of people arguing. I am highly doubt that Dennis wants to the same thing, and I also doubt that is wants another thread to be opened about Adjutant on his forums. Which in turn would just clog up the Halomaps forums more.

Now, back to the subject at hand.

That is very interesting. I am guessing to change the array type from static to dynamic; one would need to have access to the source code? In addition to also knowing if something else would need to be added on top of changing the array type.

I did PM Gravemind, but I have not (as the time of this post) heard anything in return. Though I hope that I do soon hear from him.

Thanks for the helpful post waffles! I forgot about that actually and it is good to be reminded about that issue with Halo Reach and (maybe?) Halo 4 character Models.

I hope that the issue with the array that I am having will be fixed in the next update. That is...if there will be a next update. *crosses fingers*

Well, this explains why I have to mess around with rotating the model in Blender. It's a small issue for me, since I work only with the mesh (and rotating the model takes all of two seconds), but I can understand why riggers would get a little frustrated. But, I'm not sure this sort of thing can -be- fixed, or if it can it's a fairly low-priority thing over getting the models out in the first place.

As for making Adjutant open-source, or at least letting people help out: that's entirely Gravemind's decision. As I've said before, I could probably get people on board to help and take some work from Gravemind's plate if he has no further plans for the program, but the matter rests entirely on whether or not he wants that. I'd certainly like to give something back for all the work that's been put in, definitely, but again - it rests on Gravemind.

I had been talking to Gravemind a little about it, its more-so a problem than a priority. Theres no way of pinpointing what bone is affected automatically, each model's bones are screwed up in their own way; more-so with h4 content (completely random bones affected). But, like you say--its not a difficult process to fix.

Well, like I said - it's not a problem for me, since I'm not concerned with the bones. I know other people would be happy for the news. Again, though, the issue would probably be more a case of 'get all the models exportable' - which, again again, shouldn't be a major fix.

It's good to know that it is solvable, though. I just hope it does get solved, and that Gravemind hasn't given up on the community because of a few bad apples :/

literally took like 3 minutes, any grey looking bones are inverted (flip foward axis 180 deg.). Default foward axis is x, which is the most important; its a good idea to reference h3 bones for correct pivots.
