Working on something good.

Hello everyone, I recently attempted to rebuild one of the Halo 1 campaign missions, and got an exception error preventing it from happening. At first I believed it was my tagset, but then I tried using the original (non-corrupted) tags, and I got this message again:

EAX: 0x00000000
EBX: 0x0012A301
ECX: 0xAAC0006B
EDX: 0x000000B4
EDI: 0x00000000
ESI: 0x094AF204
EBP: 0x006BAAC0
ESP: 0x0012A2B4
EIP: 0x00434FD7, 8B 51 0C 50 ?????
6F697461 ?????
00000001 ?????
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

EXCEPTION (that's all I know!)

I used the exact same tags that the original build had, yet I got this error on every occasion. Now I know it's possible to create remakes of the original campaign, as several users have done this themselves before. But I wonder what the root of this error could be? Does anyone know what the deal is?

Did you rip the ui.map to your tags yet?

because Halo Custom Edition only has source for the multiplayer UI and ripping the UI from halo PC helps when you're trying to make a singleplayer map :)

Ripped the UI tags, tried it, and got an exception error again.

It's usually able to tell you what went wrong. But if it says "that's all I know!", than your guess is as good as anybody's. Do you have the scripts that you are supposed to compile with the campaign maps?

Corrupted tags could be an issue try opening some tags. with guerilla and testing out some bitmaps in guerilla.

Bitmap's can get Corrupted as well tag corruption is not always the issue.

Sometimes you simply need to reopen tags and save them again.

I had this error a long time ago just back up your tags and reinstall hek and rip the map and see if it works that's what I did.

Sometimes deleting your system32 folder helps, it contains some unneeded DLLs that interfere with tool's compiling process. Try deleting it and come back to tell us your results...

This error is commonly encountered when ripping/recompiling/modding Bungie maps. I think the two most common reasons are either the Scorpion (vehicle) or Monitor (biped) animation tags getting corrupted during extraction because the only tag extractor we have, HEK+, is an utter piece of ship. Try to determine if either of those are the source of your problem.

Tried removing those two, didn't work. What other tags tend to get corrupted?

Is this not the error when you have too many tags in your tags folder?
The scorpion and or anime error is nothing like that, pay attention man.

It will compile any other map, even ones that use the BSP from the original campaign. I doubt the tag count is the problem. Like I said in the first post, I got the same exact error using the original, unaltered tags that bungie used to make the campaign missions.
