The model looks fine in 3ds max but it looks inside out in sapien.

so we are a little confused.

Are all the faces facing the wrong way or just some of them?

Max mostly creates faces normals depending on if you create the face in a clockwise motion or an anticlockwise motion.
Which bounding radius did you change? The render bounding?

well the double sided has made it visible.. still having a few issues.. don't understand why it needed 2 sided... and yes changed the render bounding.. and have now changed it back up a bit.

I had this issue with my falcon when left rotor was inverted ingame but looked good in sapien. Maybe it has something to do with the frame so try remaking the frame object. If that doesn't help then you should invert the model in 3ds Max and see what happens.

the hole model is fine in 3ds max but inside out in sapien even the collition is inside the object instead of on the outside like it should be.
everytime we try to create new face in max it is displaying the wrong way and have to flip it.

I think the problem is in max but don't know what it is.
I tried flip normal but I don't even know what it did.

can seem to figure it out,

im gessing if I select all faces and hit flip make it inside out in max and try and export it it would probly work but still wont know whats caseing the problem.

and that's not exactly practicle sence the model needs inproving abit.

I've had this issue before with BSP's.

I think it has something to do with attaching or detaching parts to/from the object, flipping faces, and then reattaching.

Try this out: go into element sub-object mode. Select your object, click detach. Rename. Then reattach to any other parts and export. See if that helps.

I believe it has something to with with... Ahh how can I put this... If you create two boxes, and flip the faces on one of them, and then attach the two together as a single mesh, max gets confused. It's probably the same reason why if your object is an editable poly you won't be able to create certain faces.

Try it out, I'm curious as to whether this works for you.

I have also had this issue. For me it was a very easy fix. Just select the model and got to utilities (the little hammer), then select "Reset XForm". This should fix the problem, but also flip your model inside out. Then simply flip it back and export.
