I am generally curious about this particular post because I just don't understand the purpose or motivation behind it. I see this on and off in other threads. These "in before" messages people post and I am confused as to what purpose they serve and why people make them. I am not trying to be judgmental just trying to understand a phenomenon I truly do not understand. Why do people make them?

This is a project open to anyone who wants to work on it. If anyone is interested in continuing it I have no problems helping and passing it off to other people to work on it primarily. I simply don't have the time between life and CMT work to give this the attention it needs.

My understanding of it, is that you're not meant to take it literally. When ever you read these just ignore the "in before part" the other part is usually what the writer is stating, in my case I think it's going to be officially canceled. For me the "in before..." post isn't as meaningless as a "bump" post because it's just someone's statement/opinion in internet slang.

As to your reason why people post them, the writer (at least in my case) is trying to post their opinion in a witty/funny way in today's internet slang.

Sorry in advance if this leads to the thread going off topic.

Isn't it meant to be similar to news groups going on and on about "You heard it here first!" when something comes to pass? Really, its just a prediction, that they are making known so they can take credit for their apparent skill.

Anyways, to get back on topic,

It sucks that we can't post the map's code and stuff on something like sourceforge. That way, separate parts of a map could be edited without overwriting the entire file.... Unless the map could be decompiled/recompiled quickly without having to deal with problems such as overwrites when using cloud storage.

What I'm getting at is that it would be easier for multiple people to edit a map if they could do it simultaneously without having to manually merge the files or whatever.

Flood was just awful in the later games.

It's all 'oh boy, what are we going to find?'

Cue infection form popping out of nowhere

Bungie: 'DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING, DID YOU!?'

I dunno, it just felt overdone to me. H1 Flood was absolutely terrifying and mysterious, an unknown quantity in an already desperate fight against an encroaching alien foe. The same can be said of Forerunners, though I know I'll get flamed to death for saying so. I absolutely loathe seeing people treat it as an integral part of any map, like there's this unspoken rule that you need some ancient crap in every scenario created for an engine released with originality in mind.

H3: ODST and Reach took large steps away from that (with a witty bitty exception in the latter) and were hated for it. Makes me :(

/rant

Reach and ODST didn't have any Flood...

i think halo 2 flood and forerunner things were the best, although halo 3 had some nice new enemies for flood. not sure where the enforcers went.. . . .

I also found the h3 flood to be the best of the series. I do like their implementation in h1 the best though.

Giving them multiple forms, infections, head shots and vulnerable to melee went a long way.

Reach had forerunner... in what could have been a significant plot point. Instead you see a forerunner structure and just walk away. arghhhhh

The Flood in Halo 3 is so under powered it's almost funny. Literally, like you can get through a swarm of them just by mashing the B button.
The Flood in Halo 4 looks menacing, but when you see one teabagging it reminds you that they're player-controlled and will never be menacing.

If a Spanish person plays an English game you have to assume they will misunderstand certain parts of the story. ie Cortana is not forerunner.

Halsey flash cloned her brain and made Cortana from it. I don't really know her brain went from organic data to virtual data.

of course she is..... halo reach.... remember Dr. Halsey the forerunner structures.

A lot of fans made that mistake between the Forerunner structure and what its actual purpose was in the plot. Halsey wasn't talking about the Cortana FRAGMENT in the cutscene, she was talking about the data that she and the Cortana FRAGMENT obtained, which, along with the Crystal obtained from Sigma Octanus IV, allowed the Pillar of Autumn to reach Installation 04. Which starts Halo 1 as you know it.

The Cortana you saw in Halo: Reach, was a fragment of her tasked with analyzing that forerunner artifact while the actual Cortana was on the Pillar of Autumn. The actual Cortana was made from a Flash cloned brain of Dr. Halsey, years before the fall of Reach in 2549.

glad i don't have to answer that now. i wish bungie didn't have to make circles in the lore to make their story though.

Sorry, this was bugging me.

Like I said earlier, ODST had a bit of Forerunner in it, too. It would be should after the credits played after you finish the campaign campaign on Legendary.
Correction: Like I said earlier, ODST had a bit of Forerunner in it, too. It would be shown after the credits played after you finish the campaign on Legendary.

Sometimes I hate sufficiency for ignoring grammar and because it ignored the rest of the sentence.
