If the scenery models themselves aren't changing, I'm going to make them work as best as possible.

I created LOD models for these two scenery pieces so far, the switching happens at appropriate distances and is hardly noticable (which is how it is supposed to be.)

I compiled the LOD models as separate scenery items for the sake of showing off. These are all custom H3MT items.

Hey people, ou guys haven't forgotten that you can submit your own tags for Foundry right? I'm talking soccer ball, cages, almost anything forge able that may be added to the map pallet!

Yes sir, indeed I did when I was trying to make the collision model :c

If only you were active, H3MT would have some of it's best members then, and some of the textures might look better with some updatez on the custom items.

That was one of two creations that got me into h3mt. c: oh man i was so horrible

I did mess around with the battle rifle at some point, made it a tad bit better, but I don't know what happened to it. Might be on old computer.
And I think I have a much updated sniper somewhere as well.

EDIT: Found it, on old pc. Would need a new unwrap though, since the one on this is skat. Just some small changes like different sized numbers, something done to the scope from the looks of it, and a 15 minute bitmap with a lighter shade diffuse.

If it was unwrapped better, I would take a shot at making it pretty.

Using Teh_lag's A50 animations for now, I also fixed the smoothing and junk on the FP model.


@veex

lolold HUD.

The BR has better coloring, but (as you know) is lacking in detail for some areas. I'll see what I can do about the unwrap, what specifically is bothering you about it?

Uh, check your scope again. I believe the verts to the lens may not actually be attached correctly. Looks like you have gaps and can see through the backface.

It's not the animations themselves or the weapon rig, it's HDoan's messed up arms rigged that he used to animate them in the first place. Nothing can be done.

I'd have to work on the smoothing for that pallet jack, but yeah, this is exactly the kind of stuff we're looking to add for the sake of adding!

What's the status on their collision and such?

I made collision for them all, the palatte has holes so you could hide behind a stack of them and shoot through them.
The shaders are a 2 minute job as is the multi.
There is far too much shine on the jack and like you said, the smoothing needs fixed.
I have a bunch more of the industrial looking devices, should i get those ingame too?

Can't exactly make a better spectacular map than bungie for CE. Some of the 3 dimensional detail is held within the bump, if I neglect it those details will not stand out and the weapons will look flat.

Some of my current goals are to have certain scenery items actually be vehicles, and for a number of reasons.

I want (but don't expect):

Explodable forklift, with syncage of course.

Interactive scenery, meaning fusion coils can roll and explode (vehis)
Spools can roll and move with explosions.

Eh, that's it for now.

Well, i'm not trying to imply that i'm better, all i say fake bump are bad..

Why not make a better specular, rather than fake bumps. Add some more metal scratches on the specular and more detail to make it look better.

Fakebumps will only cost those stupid lines in the diffuse and make it look like cheap toy plastic.

Would it be possible to remove flipping those vehicles with E? I really disliked it in cmt maps where you can flip covenant storage thingies.

My spartan laser tags are shiz, but if Bourrin is nice enough to donate his purty splaser I may spawn it for certain gametypes :P

But the laser doesn't spawn by default in the map.

Yeah, on my part I am optimizing already existing scenery, and I'm going to add Maniac's new scenery too. BSP UVs are already done so I don't really have much to do with the unwrapping of it anymore, BSP is all in DSalimander's hands now.

I'm going for new weapon LODs and collision models.

Thanks, and the cool thing is that the map works as well as it looks, it's not just a pritty map.

AHAHAHAH. And he's lying, the map is crap, it just looks pretty. Prepare for extreme lag, overwhelming dynamic lights for power drainers and random explosions. Well the explosions I'm cool with but the rest no :C
