Retreat? Hell! We just got here!

To anyone interested, I was in the mood for a throwback night and played me up some good 'ol Halo 3 campaign. I was playing The Covenant and had just cleared out the initial room in the 3rd tower with Arby. As I was marveling at the Forerunner design, a futuristic themed track began to play. It's hard to describe, but it sounds kind of eery, and for some reason reminds me of the Bionicle Game (Mata Nui Online Game).
I've played this level dozens of times on all difficulties and NEVER heard this sound/track before. I initially thought it was sound scenery tied to the tower's lift, but it could be heard anywhere in the room. After listening to it for several minutes I proceeded with the rest of the mission, curious to see if it died. The sound was replaced with more familiar tunes and even when I returned back to the room and waited I was unable to replicate the eery piece.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, let me know. I'm curious to see if this is new news or not. Also, I can try and upload the saved film to my profile and link it here if there's enough interest.

I suppose, but I usually stop everywhere there's something Forerunner on that level. I get a lot of inspiration from The Covenant and The Ark (easily my two favorite levels). The sound itself didn't play until I loitered around for about 1.5 minutes or so. I wonder if the fact that I was using earbuds has any influence in this...
Still, it's an awesome sound. I don't think there are any Halo 3 sound extraction methods, are there?

Isn't there a siege of madrigal (sp?) easter egg on the covenant, after you kill the two scarabs?
I know that's not where you were, but just try searching that song on youtube. Maybe it was just a glitch?

Slightly relevant. I absolutely love all of the music from Halo. It's so incredible.

In Amber Clad Heretic, Hero High Charity
High Charity was easily my most favorite. I am gonna rage if Halo 4 doesn't contain music that is half as good.

I still want that sound. It's eerie and amazing all at once. Fits right in with Halo music.

tbqh, he said that he was looking at some of the architecture, so obviously after having killed everything, he normally would have moved on when he played before, however, he happened to be around for a trail end of a piece of soundtrack he hadn't heard before because he stayed. I highly doubt it was an Easter egg or anything like that.

Halo, Rock Anthem, Earth City, Heavy Price Paid, One Final Effort, Tip of the spear (even though reach sucks), and 117 (halo 4)
those are my favorites.
And i have heard this mysterious music before, it was after i did the time-travel glitch. i also noticed that the music isn't on the halo 3 soundtrack.

The first thing that comes to mind is (.... is this a remake of the Halo PC installer music?) I think that because it also ends up playing in the library before reaching one of the elevators. They're both elevator music's maybe, and even then I don't think the installer music is on soundtrack, imma be on YouTube looking for it
Edit> Yup it's party of the library suite in halo 1 Edited by OrangeJuice on Jan 7, 2013 at 03:12 PM
