So i was messing with the H3 bubble shield tags i got here, and i noticed it was set to bumped cube map but didn't have a bump map. So i added one. But that did this So please tell me how to fix this :/ E: sorry for the size, something messed up when i uploaded it. But you get the idea. Edited by grunt_eater on Mar 24, 2012 at 02:56 PM

No, you misunderstand. I'm going for see through and the reflection is supposed to be affected by the bump map making it look like it's got active camouflage or something. This looks like i've got corrupted bitmaps.

I don't think bumps work on shader transparent glass. They didn't work for me at all. Edited by XlzQwerty1 on Mar 24, 2012 at 06:59 PM

Oh, then why is there an option for them? If all it's going to do is mess everything up...

sometimes i get this problem/error, when i add bump mapping to a glass shader, it gets weird colors, from blue to yellow, green, red, etc, whether is bsp or a model, not sure if it has anything to do with the graphics card or the something else (doesnt happen with bungie-made maps)
ps. in fact i noticed that there are many things in bungie-made maps that u don't see in user-made maps, like this... glass bump, all object affected by the atmospheric fog with no need to use multipurpose map, better weather system (like c40 if you are in tunnels u see snow outside but not inside, but thats not the case in user made maps), etc... not to talk about the xbox version (original one) with dynamic bsp bump map, better atmospheric/water fog effects like in halo 2, shader enviromnent showing alpha channel in objects unlike pc version, etc Edited by ChBgt909 on Mar 24, 2012 at 07:18 PM

All it is,is a actor_variant,I dont believe bipeds alone can have active camo. Also in halo 3 the bubble shield has a slight pulsing or expanding and retracting effect "no pun intened" this can be achieved with an overlay animation. Also see how the target turns red in the picture.Thats one clue there. It's not a hard effect to do it just works best on something that only gets created once like the bubble shield.

That's the whole reason i created this topic, 'cause that's what i thought it looked like. Lol. But when i tried that i got an extreme failure, so i asked for help. :/...What to do... Okay. I'm going to go explore my tagset, and see what i can find in the way of shaders and objects you can give active camouflage. I'll return later today with a report of what I've found. Edit Question: Why do actor_variants have a vehicular option if when you try to use it it causes a sapien error? Another question: Can you give objects (bipeds) Active camouflage by using a script? Like a script command that uses the "cheat_active_camouflage" command or something like it to give something besides the player active camouflage. Edited by grunt_eater on Mar 28, 2012 at 09:17 AM

Edited by grunt_eater on Mar 28, 2012 at 09:17 AM Your not to bright yourself. Just read what DarkLord0912 said above^^ It's an actor_variant not a biped, bipeds alone cant have active camo,it's not a glass shader. and there are no script commands that give an object active camo. And if you use vehicle options, the biped is missing key things that would make it behave like a vehicle.

I had a hunch it was a biped from the start. But i wasn't sure and i was trying to make one that would sync in MP. I wasn't calling you stupid or anything, i was just using sarcasm to show that you just pointed out what was obvious, sorry if it came out rude. And what are you talking about with the vehicle? I'm asking why in actor variants there's an option to make it a vehicle or object, instead of a biped, but when you use it sapien crashes. E: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMADzjdnf58http://www.xfire.com/video/1dd5d4/A plate full of cookies to whoever can tell me how they did it. And make sure it works. By actv you me Actor_variants? The problem with that is i'm trying to make it sync over MP, which is why i wanted to use vehicles, there is a vehicle option in Actor_Variants but when i tried using it sapien didn't like that idea. And i don't even know if Actor_Variants made with vehicles would even sync in MP, because Actor_Variants don't sync and vehicles do. What was that you were saying about scenery having the movement of vehicle? if you make a scenery tag with the tags of a vehicle it will be able to move around instead of just sitting there?
But like they said: Even if vehicle, scenery and bipeds are similar you can't put active camouflage on just a biped, anyway. So that's why i asked if there was a script command or function or something that could do it. :P
