Guys, please stop fighting about stuff which is not even related to Open Sauce, Don't turn this into a spam thread about who blows who etc..

Anyway, Back on topic.
OpenSauce does not seem to install into my Halo:CE folder, I have it on my second HDD, But Opensauce wont install into the game dir.
Open Sauce IS installing, But when i go ingame, it doesnt load, or do anything :/
No new files in the game dir. either.
Please Help

p.s Big Fan of CMT & Open Sauce, Nice to see the halo community still alive after so many years.

it checks your HCE registry, and installs to that location. Check where your registery points to, and that your HCE is up to date. You can edit the registry to say 1.00 and run haloupdate, it will then make sure your up to date (because haloupdate reacts based on registry)

Also, Dennis.. if it wouldn't be too much effort, could you implement some option in the forums where you can add people to ignore lists, so you don't have to deal with all of their posts?.. I find this feature would not only prevent many flamewars, but also leave me less angry at the end of the day from avoiding said problems. Thanks for your time.

Also, has anyone found a way to force update HCE? I have the Goemitar Version changer executables and those are 1.08. Or is there a way to get this working with .08?

That's why you can update, replace files with the old ones, and haloupdate things your up to date, because it checks registry instead *shrug*

That would be a good feature and really simple to add tbh, just an edit to the MySQL query.

So what you are saying is that self restraint is not an option. Interesting. Another reason I like being older- having fully formed frontal lobes even if the rest of my brain my may not function so well.

what directory is halo under in regedit?

\hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\microsoft games\halo ce

and dennis, self restraint is fine and all if its a rare occurance, but if you know that you do not ever want to see one persons posts, it saves you alot of unpleasantness.
The same way you turn off the forums on april fools day to not have to deal with (and\or) see certain things, there is certain things we would also rather not deal with (and\or) see.

Urgh... i'm sorry but what is wrong with taking a perfectly reasonable suggestion into consideration for once...

Yes, self constraint is there and the logical way to deal with annoying posts is to ignore it. This forum code is old, there are little to no features. Now your argument to this is that they are not needed as you have self restraint.

It's like what, 3 lines of code if that... modernize the forums a bit? :/

Just a suggestion..

I'm not seeing it, I checked there first. And I'm legit, I swear. Should I create a new entry or something?
Your best bet is to back up your maps and tags then uninstall and re install as the administrator. There are other registry keys that get created in the install process.

Is there a way to extract my CD key from my installation? I lost the original casing, hence my reluctance to reinstall.

Yes, from that exact registry value you claim is missing.

I feel sorry for myself because I have a laptop with a kinda good ATI Graphics Card. The only problem with OS for me is lags and when I load Halo CE, it loads so slow like a minute and a half.

YoGamerProductionz, do you have alot of .map files in your maps folder?
From experience I can say this can make the game load up slower.

OS lags my Halo. Especially the Motion Blur effect, like when I move forward, the screen stays blurry and moves the image, until I stop for a sec, when it becomes normal again.
How to I fix this? Is this with my screen refresh rate? How do I improve?

@314 go to my games/haloce/open sauce/open with notepad the os_settings.user file and in the line that says
<MotionBlur enabled="true" amount="1" />

edit it to say

<MotionBlur enabled="false" amount="0" />

i didn't want the motion blur on when i was playing in a multiplayer server, and that turned it off.
pretty sure i saw that in korns links too.

so set it to maybe 0.5 also with pc specs you said you have, im confused because i have 1gb ram now because i did have 2 and 1 stick blew out, os with motion blur doesnt lag that much that it even bothered me, but in a multiplayer server, you want as zero lag as possible so i disabled it.

qwertyuiop, have you checked the taskmanager to make sure xfire is not still running as a process or using memory in anyway?

It's set as 0.3 but still lag..

E: I tried lowering it and lowering it until no lag, but then it seems like there's no motion blur at all.

@314 motion blur will just look like lag, but it is only the movement that is blur and makes it look like lag. sure lag is when you suddenly move from one part of a map to another, and move slightly away from the players exact location.

The difference between Client and Computer lag, Computer lag is when the game visibly slows down, the framerate drops and becomes jittery and annoying/
Client lag is in multiplayer, and occurs when the server doesn't update you position and such because your ping is so high or the server is taking a break from being reasonable.

true, i was just pointing out that the motion blur shouldn't really be confused with lag :)

They're 2 different things, one is concerning Online, which is what you described. That's not what's happening here though.

Anybody know how to use OpenSauce as limited account if the d3d9.dll is not in the directory?
I tried putting it into the virtual store (clicking compatibility files) but it doesn't work.

Well thanks for the honest answer, but is there any way to accomplish this with OS? If not, then I guess I'm out of luck.

of course they are 2 different things...
but if you noticed the pc specs he has, then you wouldn't be thinking computer lag.

For Opensauce, whenever I look at the UI, the main cinematic goes all blurry, and you see.. I dunno. Its like an ultimate lag, where you see multiple versions of the cinematic, like the lights in twelve different places in a line. Any help plox?
