NO he's not working on the Halo 3 Scarab.




I was shadowslayer's guy making the custom collision mesh and physics for his scarab.

I haven't touched it in a long time.

And I'm sure he hasnt either,he has yet to post that the project is even alive,so NO!

i still have most of the stuff to it. if someone would be willing to make decent animations and a good collision, id gladly resume work on it. heck, just a good collision and id do it.

I swear kirby made some animations for a scarab and collaborated with someone to test the biped on vehicle syncing.

working on it took ages, it had a ton of faces to flip, and assigning proper id's was horrid. i think in a week or so of nobody takes the offer, im gonna pack it all up and release it so you guys dont have to go through the process

that scarab was a mess, and really glitchy. and there really is no way to make a good scarab in this crappy engine. ill release the stuff i did this weekend

The scarab could use the same system as the old and loook very good with correct suspension anims.

i was thinking about doing that, but i can only do fp anims, barely, i have no clue how vehicle anims work.

well it walked. There wasn't any guns on it or any weak point for massive damage.

How I propose getting a halo 3-ish scarab ingame.

The Scarab acts like a turret. It doesn't walk forward, it just spins around in place (like they do in Halo 3). The overall Scarab has a sheild and body health. The Body health can only be damaged from the damaged place, but you can hurt the sheild anywhere. When the sheild has been damaged, you kill the driver in the vehicle (causing the scarab to lower). Wait a bit and put the driver back in. Tada, you got a scarab somewhat like Halo 3

I know this thread is really really really old, but I just want to ask this, it probably has an answer already, but is there anywhere people can get the assets (scarab textures, model, shaders etc.) for this project?

I almost forgot about this project.. I started it back when in order to get h3 rips, you had to pay some shady hacker guy for a copy of his program. Meshes are screwed up with weird random geometry, you had to flip a million faces, rigs only worked half the time, most bitmaps couldnt be extracted... The list goes on. You guys have it easy nowadays :P

That is the Halo 2 version that was ported for the use in the map 'Extinction' I mean the halo 3 scarab that this thread is about.

So to rephrase my question, will this halo 3 scarab ever be finished?

If you like using OS, Kirby made a multiplayer friendly version of the scarab that also lets you stand on it while in motion.

Halo 3 version? and where do you get it?

Edit: if this version ever gets finished, I would like it aswell if it isn't an OS exclusive. (or OS is fine aswell, I like this one)
