So.... hypothetically speaking..... if I were to make a zombies map (to be played with the multiplayer infection gametype), what would be a good BSP to use? I can't really model, so should I modify a stock map to be better-suited to the zombie apocalypse, or should I edit a pre-made custom level? Any suggestions?

I've been considering Gephyrophobia.

Possible layout. Should I use this, or have players fight in the fog beneath the level?

Edit: And would people prefer a modern theme, or something a bit more Halo-ish?

Not gephy, do something asymmetrical, so the humans can start off in a base or something.

Well the bases on each end of the bridge look pretty good for zombie defense. But I was also toying with the idea of having players beneath the level, in the foggy plain under the map. I wasn't sure how well that'd work out. If somebody wanders off on their own into the fog, you're going to have to find them eventually....

find a map where the best spot to defend is a base in the middle so that way the zombies will have to come from the sides to the middle where you will be open from both sides yet still fairly fortified.

You could try Chillout, Hang em High(although it's a bit overused), or you could use the center of Icefields. Just some suggestions.

Custom would be really nice, but for a stock map I choose Chill Out.

Chillout and Hang Em High are fun to play Zombies in their default state. I'm not sure there's much more I could do to improve them in terms of gameplay, other than revising the weapons and bipeds to better suit the gametype. Unless people want that, of course.

Maybe a foggy BG with some more armor and equipment around the Red base. (Human Base)

Blood Gulch would be good for Zombies, if I added on to the existing bases. But seeing as how all the "noobs" make BG mods, I figured no one would even play it if I made one.

haha! I just saw your comment on my picture and saw time of posting here.

But hey, here is a map out there that has a great spot in the middle to play zombies with it's central defendable base and numerous choke points on it's land bridges and caverns. Also, this map would do great with a little fog placed correctly. Overall, it's just an amazingly built map by TM and it's a bummer not many people play it.

@OP:
If you do use gephy, don't put the players down in the fog, it's completely flat and boring down there. Just add more fog via the sky tag.

That's actually kinda why I considered it. It's blank and easily built upon. I have plenty of buildings and structures I would use to liven things up a bit, with spotlights and foglamps to light the way for Survivors.

I advise hidden tunnels for sneaking around in under the current map. They can be dark and require a flashlight. That could be closed off, with a bit of water- like sewers. A spawn point for zombies with multiple one-way teleporters leading out.

I say that you go all combat arms and do a ratrace or a cabin with many holes for the zombies to attack you from the map "cabin fever" would be a beast SP map with many marines oh oh how about spiral's civilians with shot guns all over the place

the map cabin fever is cool because every checkpoint that you take the map gets harder... and harder until you are up in the attic and there are zombies all over the place in the basement and ground floor
here it is

the basement

There's a second floor on cabin fever? ಠ_ಠ

There's the ground floor, the basement, and the second floor.

And Cabin Fever wouldn't make a good infection map, as it's A.) too small, B.) will have everyone camping at the top of the stairs to the second floor, and C.) simply wasn't designed for that. It was designed for the slow moving AI's that don't use strategy.

I'm thinking of making this a zombies map. I won't reveal too many details, but I'll release soon.
