Ah Hello. Let me introduce myself, I am Rassilon and I've been lurking here every so often for some time and decided to finally make a account and thread here. I am currently working on a map called Walküre, somewhat of a hash between Highlands and Valhalla with three red rock walls shaped like a horse shoe and closed in with access to the sea. Currently have one building done and working on the next design currently in paper form before doing the 3D. I do everything via paper before settling on a final design and then doing the modelling, not the most efficient but it is effective. I've currently got several other models I plan on using at one point or another but until I finalize on them I won't be showing them. Any how, You're not here to listen to me ramble so I'l just post a render of the first base created and slowly update with other pictures later. I would directly add the first render but.. Unfortunately directly linking to images seem to be locked down for new users so I will just leave this link here: http://i51.tinypic.com/141temc.pngEdited by rassilon on Apr 5, 2011 at 04:27 PM

I might have some geometry to share with you... It was based off that design (Halo 3's is a bit different).

I hope you don't take this as some kind of insult but I would much rather make the interior myself. I've got a cardinal rule where I prefer to create my own mesh rather than rely on other peoples content because it allows me to learn more about what I'm doing than it would to simply grab and take. Edit: Started work on the floor layout on the interior. I plan to have a glass floor covering the machinery and possibly a few lights emitting from the insets. I like to see things in a what you see if what you get scene. I may port this to CE at some point soon as a scenery object which is why I felt it appropriate to post this thread here.

But if you do get it into halo at one point, lemme know, looks amazing. Subscribed to topic :D

The texture pack was huge and came in a format that I think is for Crysis. Any way I can get that bitmap?

Why are you using mine and massacre's assets in something other than what I gave permission for them to be used for?
E: read the post I made in your ut3 forums thread.

Trust me, besides doing forerunner bases me and selentic have little in common. Quote: --- Original message by: R93_Sniper Hey Rasillion, if you dont mind my asking, you letting that Crysis map with the base out for grabs? from what i can see from the pictures (Trust me, i just re-looked them) it looks pretty cool That is something I am looking into depending on how things work out. It all depends on whether or not there is enough interest. Few more tweaks to be done here and there and this base will be done;

That looks too bland to even be in halo (do your shaders even have normal maps?) There are two colours in the whole picture man, this is halo/crysis, not gta 4, get inventive.

Have to agree with Sel there, Forerunner colors tend to range from gray, blue, yellow, brown, and silver.
also now that i look at it, your uvw mapping needs alot of work, and your smoothing groups should be assigned correctly. i'm pretty sure sandbox takes smoothing groups...

Sandbox automatically creates smoothing groups if none are assigned. As of this moment this is about as far as I intend to go with this. http://img816.imageshack.us/i/screenshot0016x.jpg/It's not perfect but nothing ever is and if I spend too much more time on this then the other things that need tending to will be neglected. At the moment, I am happy with this outcome and that is about as much as I can ask for. The new tools and techniques used in this build will come in handy for future creations and so I feel it is time to move onto the next object.

It's not just far from perfect, it's visually bland, and if that's as far as you intend to take anything you make you're letting yourself, and everyone else you're showing this to down.
