I think nightfall befalling you then and there would mean the player would be experiencing the shortened timeframe much more evidently, but if it's only during travel, its a little more subtle and the sped up time isn't as noticeable. I think I'd go for the latter. But, saying that, how would the nightfall changes occur to the player? Cinematic break or literally a change during play?

If we opted for the former option, there would be no interruption to gameplay. It would seamlessly (albeit immediately, which is the drawback) turn from day to night.

Kirby is the kind of guy who does things just to do them. I can think of ten good reasons why it wouldn't be practical to do that in the campaign, but the main one is that we're using actual skies which we'd be forced to animate to sync with the "sun" and its shine angle. Basically nope.

Anyways, if he doesn't want to, then there is no point in further discussing mah sun in here. Also, Tiel: teh gud engrish spekng nao i mist?

Thinking about it... I'm using a device, why do I care how long the JMO is? I can set how long I want it to take to do a loop lol.

I thought I'd let anyone wondering about this project know that it's still easily alive an kicking. For example, I HAVE (don't worry TCK or pepzee, I'm actually doing something) been working on one of the level pieces for a time now. I think you all will like what's in store, especially if it's done right. If anything, it'll have a nice and classic Halo feel to it. I'm still modelling a -redacted- for the mission though, so it don't expect too much from me in a form of presentable footage just yet. Hope you all still look forward to this free-roam campaign!

Sounds good, I wish you the best of luck. Unfortunately my usefulness to this project may be coming to an end. School has started for me and is taking 7 and a half hours out of my life(8:30am - 4:04pm). Not to mention homework and other miscellaneous stuff. So I will only be able to work on the weekends. Also within a few months. I will be without a computer for 2 months due to reasons I would rather not specify on a public forum. So if I'm to do any work on this project it will be much later in the year. Furthermore I have not been in contact with TCK in about a month. Have you been in contact with him? I cant seem to reach him. Edited by Pepzee on Aug 16, 2011 at 01:58 AM

TCK told me a while ago that he is taking a break for Halo Custom Edition. If he doesn't notice this then I will be sure to tell him. He is taking a break for various reason's one of which includes being "fresh" with Halo when he get's back. Quote: Conversation started between {RSF|C}Skidrow and TCK: Sat, Jul 30 14:41:23 2011 [14:41] {RSF|C}Skidrow: hi. [14:41] TCK: hey [14:42] {RSF|C}Skidrow: the hideoput is empty... [14:42] {RSF|C}Skidrow: hideout* [14:42] TCK: yeah [14:42] TCK: I'm taking off from Halo until August, tomorrow [14:42] TCK: so that I feel better about it after having not done it in a while [14:42] {RSF|C}Skidrow: yeah? It's in a cryotube. I still have a lot to take care of in life right now including, but not limited to: car restoration, bipolar diagnosis, and alcoholism (not necessarily in that order).
This will be finished even if it does take a while. I don't like leaving things undone.

I think one support option would be to call in reinforcements like extra marines and what not. I haven't seen any open world game where you can call in for ground infantry and I think it would be totally awesome! Edited by ICE x Toxiic on Jan 10, 2012 at 03:45 PM

If you added reinforcements, this mod would have done something 10x as well as Skyrim. If you do decent boss fights, this mod will have done something 10000x as well as Skyrim. If you do awesome sidequests, this mod will have done... wait, you can't beat Skyrim there... (xD Skyrim's really awesome for sidequests but as Dragonborn, I expect to be allowed to call guards whenever I want! And I expect to have decent foes. Ulfric took like two seconds to kill and nothing even happened afterwards. -.- Anyway kinda off topic, sorry)

As one of the very first units deployed in a series of the most powerful supersoldiers yet known to man, you may expect to have plenty of the story revolving around you. This includes being catered to hand and foot by your team, which of course means they would be willing to drop into a combat zone with you at any moment. As for bosses (well I wouldn't exactly call them that), the overall main story revolves around eliminating seven key rebel leaders in different locations.
As I said before, this is still not underway; but I will probably have enough time to at least talk to all of you about it to a great extent, if you'd like to continue asking any questions you may have. Edited by The Cereal Killer on Jan 14, 2012 at 10:34 PM

A free roam game with Covenant maybe even playing as the Covenant and having your personal army <<< hint future project maybe? but beside that, So your saying Humans vs Humans. Can't wait to download along with the Flood Campaign WIP. (Stkft) that comes out. Have you estimated any release date like an early Beta or when the actual release. This may be a little early to ask that but curiosity got to me.

Due to some issues in real life TCK isn't exactly working on it. Next time I see him I will ask and see what I can do to get the project continued. We don't currently have a beta except what is on halomods. That is EXTREMELY outdated and does not reflect the current planned outcome of the mod.
In regards to what you are saying is something along the lines of a future mod I am (somewhat) planning to do.

Excellent if you need help when you make that project if you do, I'll help in every way I can. I'm good at populating maps and placing Scenery to look scary or plain out cool or look just right for any setting. Haven't gotten into all the advanced stuff people do on these forums but I am teaching myself slowly, because of school -__- . I'm back, later than ever, to answer more questions (I'm glad to see that Skidrow has already gone through some answers for you). My plans were for the rebels to be the main enemy in this campaign, for the Covenant to be introduced in sections, and for the flood to be absent entirely.
There was a map released which was called a "beta" at some point, but like Skidrow said, it no longer holds any relevance. I removed any traces of it, and I even deleted it from my own computer after starting over again.

Had written this bit up a while back, decided to post it so you fellers don't eat yourselves alive before I can feed you with anything else. When completed, it will be the official list of the friends and enemies you can expect to encounter.
Specific faction and unit descriptions:
The Red Skulls This organization, although officially controlled by a board of directors, is ultimately driven by the will of one man. His face is well-known and he is seen on a daily basis by his staff and close coworkers, yet only a select few know his true name. Most people simply know him as "Boss." He rarely speaks publicly, yet he welcomes any and all guests into his offices, and one must only request a meeting on any given Thursday afternoon between 3 PM and 8 PM (which are his official public office hours) to see him face-to-face. Many are awestruck by this blatant disregard for security; yet no harm seems to ever befall this man. His organization exists for the sole purpose of offering an alternative to the UNSC for aspiring young cadets, and advertises a more luxurious lifestyle than the government can afford to give its soldiers. The RS organization earns its vast money by claiming bounties, mining ore from various planets and asteroids, and offering defense and security services to businesses for a monthly fee. The organization's most recent endeavors include an assault on any and all rebel encampments in an attempt to drive them out of the picture permanently. This would free them up to assist the colonies and UNSC in deflecting Covenant advancement. Some of the Red Skull vehicles and infantry types are listed below:
- LAAP (Lightly Armored Assault Personnel): These are Red Skull standard infantry. Clad in ODST Ballistic Armor (the patent for which was purchased from the UNSC), they are generally recognized as the equivalent of Marines in every aspect, yet with superior armor.
- Spartan 2: These troopers are the pride and joy of the Red Skull organization. After the patent for their design and Mjolnir armor specifications were purchased, production began immediately. Alone, they are about 3 times as strong as an average human. Their Mjolnir cybernetic armor multiplies this strength even further. Their skeletons, augmented with various elements and compounds, are nearly as strong as diamond. Their response time is unable to be charted, with no known equivalent in existence, including machinery; once again, this is enhanced by their cybernetic armor which has an end result in a superhuman whose combat abilities are unable to be matched by any known life form. There are only two deaths of Spartan 2s in the Red Skull archives; one occurred when Spartan 2 operative Marston-141 stayed behind to face down an onslaught of over 500 rebel personnel in an attempt to allow his squad to escape. Through cunning, speed, and strength alone, he killed nearly 300 of his foes before the remaining enemies detonated the failsafe nuclear device at the heart of the facility. The second occurred when Michael-226 detonated a nuclear device to prevent the spread of an alien infection (whose origin has not yet been determined) from the compound at which he was stationed along with 30 of his comrades. This coincidence in similarity of the deaths, paired with the already semi-popular catchphrase, has lead to a joke among Red Skull personnel that the only way to kill a Spartan 2 is to "nuke it from orbit."

How the hell were they able to get their hands on Spartan-IIs again? I mean the rebels got some of the UNSC's best Spartans(though most of them were never put on active duty) by influencing them to join their side. So these guys were somehow able to make Spartans from scratch? Well, they probably made their own augmentations through other means but still, this needs more elaboration. -Zekilk Edited by cyboryxmen on Mar 26, 2012 at 08:13 AM
