You need Sketchup Pro, then you can export to more conventional file types like .obj or .3ds. There may be other ways but I don't know them, I'm afraid.

save it as a .dae. then get .fbx converter from autodesk. convert that .dae file to an .fbx. then convert that fbx. to a .3ds. open 3dsmax. import .3ds file. :D

mastur cheef is right!! Long time I thinked that sketchup would be excelent for Halo, but no! It sucks, if you model in sketchup and then export to 3dsmax you will get a lot of open edges, USE 3Ds Max or blender.
Sorry

Sketchup Pro allows you to export to the 3ds format.

there's a way to get sketchup files exported to a format that isn't called collada if i remember right, but its actually just a zip file with a different extension, and in that zip file there's a collada file. If you extract the contents you can open it with the collada plugin. I used to do this to try to port models to ce i got from google's model library online. You could try doing this, it usually is pretty simple...

i don't think anyone made a completely "no error" transfer from sketchup... just use 3ds max. In the first place

Whoever told you that Sketchup fails at making Halo maps needs to get their facts correct. I made these 2 maps using Sketchup mainly for the modelling, everything else in 3DS. BC_Raceway_Final_MP - http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=4665BC_Carousel_MP - http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=5215You don't need to convert .skp to .3ds. Sketchup Pro has .3DS export! Like Sceny already said. If you're getting lots of errors, you need to adjust the export options.
